I'm fairly confident that for me the issue is to do with the transparent proxy I'm stuck behind. I'm not seeing much in the way of a solution at the moment. -

Me too. Using Twitterrific and getting bad request error as soon as I open it. So far this service pretty much sucks! -

Twitter returns a Bad Request error to Twitterrific when you exceed your rate limit. While Twitterrific claims that it is always 70 requests per hour, it is not. Twitter is currently rate limiting, meaning that you might only have 20 requests per hour while they try to get things fixed up.
You can check the Twitter rate limit status on the Twitter Status Blog: http://status.twitter.com
You could also download the latest Twitterrific beta which will automatically adjust to the rate limit for you. Keep in mind, Twitterrific uses up 3 requests on every refresh (one for DMs, one for all replies, one for tweets) so those 20-50 requests get used up pretty quick if you don't allow Twitterrific to adjust your update ratio.
