Never mind, I rebooted and it no longer works. Nothing's wrong with Firefox, so I'm forgetting about Chrome. eh.

I found my solution... adding --no-sandbox after the exe from the Start->Run menu.

Here's what is in my Run prompt box:
"C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --no-sandbox

Now it works like a charm. :) (And I wasn't running any of the software (anti-virus or otherwise) listed by the Google rep above.

I've got the same problem... looks like GoogleUpdate is running in the Task Manager, but nothing is happening. I can't even uninstall Chrome from the control panel
