No trouble at all. It's gone. (Of course, if you go check for it, it'll get re-added.) :) Now the site/feed points only to the new URL. Let me know if you see any additional quirks. – Melanie Baker, on August 19, 2008 15:17

Ok, so what's going on here is that the system "sees" these are two separate blogs, so what happens is the content is still published to Blogspot, and then after comes through on the new domain. The difference in rankings in that the old URL has more time to gather engagement than the new URL, and also it's more established and has more history. So for now, the new domain will always be playing "catch up" to the original URL. If you like, we can remove the old Blogspot URL from our system, and then all the analysis will be done for your new URL. – Melanie Baker, on August 19, 2008 14:49

Hi Joe -- Ok, we've cleaned up your feed, and what appears to be occurring is that if posts get edited/re-published it's generating a new, slightly different URL for them, hence the duplicates appearing. (I suspect this is something your software is doing on its own.) Out of curiosity, what CMS/blogging platform do you use? Also, have you upgraded recently?
As noted, we've seen this once before, and we will be updating our system to handle URLS in a more sophisticated fashion, so it will detect things like this and won't publish duplicates.

Hmm, definitely odd. Your latest post is appearing in the analysis for your old domain before your new one, too. I've asked one of the devs to take a look and will let you know once it's sorted out. – Melanie Baker, on August 18, 2008 19:08

I recently purchased a domain name for my blog (previously tatasmagik.blogspot.com - now imnotbeautifullikeyou.com) and my Best Post widget started displaying duplicate content with different ranks. So, I reinstalled with the domain name. So far, so good.
For some reason, when I research AideRSS with my old name, I get higher Post Ranks than with my new domain name. I'm confused as to why the exact same content is returning like this?!

We had that problem with someone else before -- re-publishing was causing creation of slightly different URLs, so I figured I'd check as step one of the investigative process. I have one of the guys looking at it currently. – Melanie Baker, on August 13, 2008 17:33

Yes. There is a great chance that I did this. Why would this cause AideRSS to read it as two separate instances? Each post exists only once in my feed. – Joseph Thornley, on August 13, 2008 17:19

Joseph Thornley asked a question in AideRSS on August 13, 2008 15:33:
AideRSS Analyze shows duplicate posts with different PostRanksWhen I enter my blog URL, http://www.propr.ca, into the Analyze box, AideRSS reports duplicate entries for blog posts, sometimes with different PostRanks.
Is this a problem with my feed or with AideRSS' algorithm?
Melanie Baker replied on July 07, 2008 12:59 to the problem "For me, AideRSS is fubar. Not ready for Firefox 3." in AideRSS:
Our newer version of the Google Reader extension that's Firefox 3-compatible has been updated on the site: http://gr.aiderss.com/
For those who have an older version installed, you don't need to uninstall it before installing the new version.
For those who received the FF3-compatible extension via zip file, you just need to extract the files, open the folder they're in, and drag and drop the appropriate file (depending on whether or not you have Greasemonkey installed). Firefox will launch the installation process automatically.
