We do not have the ability to disable the shortcut right now. We have it slated for a future release, but I dont have a date yet. Sorry about that. – thumbstrips_jonathan, on July 01, 2008 13:35

First, try going to the Configure menu and choose Sort... Just show me every visit. Thumbstrips is designed to take a picture of what is currently on the screen every few seconds and it is overwritten if you do not leave that page. With the way some sites embed viewers this means that you might have that issue. I will add that as a "requested feature".
You are correct on your second assumption - the thumbnail is captured for what you are looking at at the time. ThumbStrips cannot capture what is not in view, sorry. – thumbstrips_jonathan, on June 23, 2008 05:32

Sorry about that ... we really need to make that easier in a future version. If you just want to open the last browser session or saved thumbstrips just open the Configure menu on the ThumbStirips and click My Thumbstrips. You should see the last browser session and any saved thumbstrips.
If you are going to the directory then go to your windows menu and click Search and then choose all files and folders... and in the search box put "filmstrips" that should find the directory. You could create a shortcut and put it on your desktop so it will be easy to find later.
I hope that helps! – thumbstrips_jonathan, on June 23, 2008 05:20

I'm at the 'xcritic' web site, browsing some of his snaps from the Xrated video awards. Hit the next button, takes the next image, and just overwrites the same thumb. ie: 1 thumbnail for several hundred images. And that thumb is just the last one your on, and there's no way I've seen to even save the image beyond ALT-PRT SCR. save to disk.
And another thing I noticed, though this may be how things work. I haven't figured out the purpose of this thing yet.
I'm browsing http://www.watt-up.com/j_gallery/Aman... amanda bynes at watt.com.
the top image orange top. The entire image goes on below the horizon. But thumbstrip only grabs what it can see.

Can you give me some more info? Are you going to a site and it is not recording the thumbnail? If you are on an "https" site make sure you go to Configure -> OPtions ->More -> and uncheck "never record secure sites".
I do like your suggestion of 'make a thumb of this' since if you want to turn recording off you could force it to record just the one site you are on. RIght now you would have to turn it on and then off to do that. – thumbstrips_jonathan, on June 22, 2008 21:08

thumbstrips_jonathan replied on June 19, 2008 15:51 to the problem "Icon missing" in ThumbStrips:
Ok... so I have installed many things now :) I could not install Flash Video Resources Downloader, DictionarySearch, Mouse Gestrures, Right Encoding, tab mix plus, since they are not compatible with FF3.
I couldnt find Dichne toolbar, Japanese-English Dictionary, names dictionary, pearl crescent page saver...
With all of that I am not seeing the issue you have. I did check with our developers and they said that if there are other things competing for icon placement in the firefox toolbar and status bar it is possible for it to be overwritien. In the code we ask for the TS icon to be placed at the end of the toolbar before the address space. If there are other addons doing the same then there could be a conflict. I could only test the addons I could install/find, so it could be one of the others listed.
I will run with this configuration for a while and let you know if the issue happens for me. In the meantime can you use F2 to open and close the Thumbstrip.

I have uninstalled and re-installed of course. The icon in the bottom right hand corner appears about every 5 times I fire up the browser.
Add-ons- Grease monkey, IE tab, foxy meter and Flash video Resources downloader-these are also in the bottom right-hand corner.
All other add-ons: Flash block, g-translate, Rikaichan, Add Bookmarks Here, Colorful tabs, Dictionary search, Dichne toolbar, Image Zoom, Paste and Go,Japanese-English dictionary for Rikaichan, Measure it, Mouse Gestures Redox, Names dictionary for Rikaichan, Hebrew spell-checking dictionary, Pearl Crescent Page Saver Basic, Piclens, Right Encoding, Smart Bookmarks Bar, Split Browser, Tab Mix Plus, Text Link, Unhide Passwords- may seem like many, but every single one tested for many moons and totally essential..
Thanks for your help!! I'm just curious as to what the problem is, as Thumbstrips is definitely something I have grown used to using in the past on FF 2 and is a great add- on for sure.
