This same thing happened to me, after updating to the new Adium I signed back on with only about 3 of my contacts. I even signed into iChat just to see if there was a problem with Adium and the same thing was happening in ichat...

I downloaded the update and now my contacts are all gone, I even signed into iChat and everything's gone.
