Tim replied on November 01, 2009 20:25 to the problem "Can't send messages since the update" in Ning:
Following the latest fix, some browsers which worked before now don't but others do.
Blog posts can be be posted from some and not others, aren't appearing on my front page, even when featured. Don't show up on my profile page either, but do show up in the My Blog view.
This is all a bit of a mess, to put it mildly, and other than the automated response, my help ticket hasn't been acknowledged. Hope it gets sorted quickly.

I'm still having some problems - still can't send messages or delete them from my inbox using Firefox - so I've updated my ticket. – Tim, on November 01, 2009 12:19

Shadow,
Thanks so much for this - it's meant I've been able to message members. But it's the ONLY browser so far on my Mac. Doesn't work with Firefox in Windows either. – Tim, on October 31, 2009 11:43

This applies to windows as well. Just tried using Firefox on a friend's laptop. Save buttons are ok on text boxes on the main page, so it appears that this problem is only affecting the Send button in the private messaging area.
Oh, and there's the other issue that you can no longer add or re-order features on your network via Manage if you're using Firefox or Camino on a Mac (Safari works, though)
Tim reported a problem in Ning on October 31, 2009 10:15:
Can't send messages since the updateThe javascript send button no longer works on my Mac in Firefox, Safari, Camino, Chrome. And this is since Courtenay posted that the javascript issues had been fixed.
I've also tried replying to messages in my inbox. It won't let me send a message to a member unless they are my friend.
This is awful.

Tim replied on October 23, 2009 11:42 to the idea "An Update on Ning Virtual Gifts" in Ning:
It would help if NCs could make the default selection of gifts shown to members the Featured ones. As it is, without wholesale deletion, it's not easy to make the first view members get of the gifts reflect the network.
Plus, I would like a couple of free ones beyond the AIDS red ribbon (which I will use for my entire membership on World AIDS Day, despite the problems of putting it on 9K profiles) to give to new members as they join to get the idea going. Maybe one of these could be a custom gift, the other - say - the welcome mat.

Tim replied on October 22, 2009 18:04 to the idea "NCs to be able to reset profile thumbnail back to default image" in Ning:
The ability to send someone a message as you do it is a nice touch. This has been implemented very elegantly - so thanks very much!
P.S. The other element of the old LiveWired script was the ability to reset a page theme back to the default, so I hope we may see that at some point (very useful if someone puts inappropriate material as a profile background image)

Tim reported a problem in Ning on October 22, 2009 08:18:
Broadcast messages not getting throughMembers on my network don't seem to be receiving broadcast messages (including yesterday's about gifts, which is particularly annoying). I've checked my own test accounts and the last two never arrived.
I've raised a Help ticket on this, but wondered if anyone else is experiencing the same problem. It's clearly not universal, as messages from some other networks I belong to are still reaching my inbox.
Member communication via broadcast messages has a huge impact on my network's activity, so this is a serious issue for me.
A comment on the question "Ning is full of pornography. Get concerned and report this?" in Ning:
Thanks for making the point. You're not the only one who's been growing more and more offended by this. – Tim, on October 06, 2009 19:02
A comment on the question "Domain forwarding and EMAIL incompatible???" in Ning:
It would really help if NCs in that situation had an easy way to hide all the prompts to members to email in photos and videos! – Tim, on October 04, 2009 22:53

Tim reported a problem in Ning on October 02, 2009 10:11:
Child porn alertI posted a ticket via the help system yesterday (#00070609) regarding a network which clearly had illegal images in its front page slideshow, and which is on public view. Under some jurisdictions this puts Ning members at legal risk simply for clicking on the directory listing and viewing the front page of the network.
It's still showing up in search results now, using a common keyword. Its listing says 22 people have joined it in the past day. All the images showing up in thumbnails in the directory listing are also currently of children.
Of course, Ning Help is busy (I've so far only received the automated response), and it takes a while to sort through reports of abuse of the TOS, but this one - imho - couldn't be any more obvious!
Apologies for flagging it here as well as via Help, but I feel this is one you need to know about asap.
