A comment on the problem "I love my Asus Eee PC 900 with a Linux operating system, but there are three problems I haven't been able to resolve" in ASUS:
For your next laptop you might want to give Linux Mint a go. Haven't gotten to try out the wifi as the laptop I tried it on wouldn't work wired or wireless with either Windows or Linux (hardware troubles).
The rest is about as easy as it can possibly get. PCLinuxOS is also a really good distro for easy set up.
For most people, even the guys who like to play around with the internals, an easy set up at the start is still a really good thing and those two are the easiest I've come across. – tmsbrdrs, on August 09, 2009 02:33
tmsbrdrs replied on August 07, 2009 08:14 to the problem "Flock 2.0.2 unable to install Adobe Flash Player" in Flock:
Using Ubuntu, there's no need to login as root. Just open the terminal, type in "sudo nautilus" without the quotes and drag and drop.
Strictly using the terminal, just copy and paste:
sudo cp /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so /usr/share/flock/plugins
and press enter. Type your password, press enter, done.
If you installed Flock somewhere else then just type the path to where flock is installed instead.

@Oliver Mannion
I came across this by accident and the version is a bit older than current but it does add Flock to Synaptic.

A comment on the idea "integration of last.fm" in Flock:
flock runs off the same base as firefox, that means anything you'd go back to firefox for will also run on flock.
With that said, they've mentioned several times before they're interested. What needs to be done is getting them together with the guys from last.fm to make it happen sooner. – tmsbrdrs, on July 20, 2009 04:14

@Rhonda
If you're using myspace, whatever browser you use for accessing it will require a Flash Player/Plugin of some kind. If you're using Linux, then you can try the Gnash Player, it's not perfect but it does work. Otherwise, you have to use Adobe Flash Player no matter what browser you use.
If it's just installation problems with Flash in Flock then please let us know what OS you're using and what exactly those problems are that you're having.

Mine's working beautifully. I logged in to make sure and had no trouble. Make sure you have a fully updated version of Flock first. If that doesn't help, try disabling all add ons, then add them back in one at a time until the problem reoccurs. If the problem occurs with no add ons, please respond back here.

@Cam
It's thankfully been resolved for now. If it happens again, I'll get a screenshot immediately and post here.
I alerted Yahoo as well and it seems they fixed the problem, at least for the moment.
As for what it was doing at the time, I would see zero page layout. It would render the text only in odd places. Again, if it happens again, I'll get a screenshot and post back immediately.

So far I haven't seen anything happen at all with it. Facebook has been rock steady through Flock for me.
On another note, I've noticed Yahoo Mail having trouble with rendering properly. Not through the email compatibility but through the actual site. It may have to do with the rendering engine itself, but I didn't get the chance to check it through Firefox to be sure. Just thought I'd give a heads up to possible problems with Yahoo sites in the future.

Have you tried Gnash? I realize the non-free flash player on Linux still has a long way to go before it's equal between OS's, but Gnash might just be able to work properly. You could always check with the code developers for the Gnash project and find out about making it embedded into the Miro player only so that it gives playback for videos without effecting Flash playback in the default browser.-

We need more information to be able to help. What exact version of the OS are you working with? (10.3, 10.4, 10.5) What version of Flock are you using? Have you updated it at all? Do you have any addons installed? Can it upload photos to other sites? Are you having problems with any other part of Flock? Have you made any changes to about:config?

@redandwhite
That's pretty funny. I could've sworn I'm using Ubuntu 8.10. Have you tried doing a google search for Flock .deb ? That should fix any problems you're having since there is a .deb package that installs Flock located at http://tnerd.com/2008/10/19/flock-20-... . That's the one I used and now Flock works exactly like Firefox. As I said, I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 with Flock installed now.
