Hi Waffles! It's definitely been on our agenda, but we'd want to be sure that it was both stable and lived up to expectation. – Rael Dornfest, on June 26, 2008 10:01

Right - the IM should not depend on Twitter. Twitter isn't dependable, so if I'm going to depend on Sandy I need a better way of interacting with her. The web interface is nice, but it's not going to integrate with any type of smooth consistent daily workflow. IM solves all those problems and it's not very hard to set up. I want to use Sandy on a daily basis for everything, but I need either a nearly-flawless twitter or IM to make that happen.

I would enjoy a native MSN Sandy. I've already got her on Jabber via Twitter, and IMified when the Twitter bot is down; but the interfaces aren't nice and sandy (uh, dandy) and, friends on Windows do not usually have Jabber clients installed but always an MSN client. I find IM to be the quickest way to interact with Sandy so it'd be neat to have when borrowing a computer.
Also, Sandy doesn't seem to respond to lookups via Twitter. That is something which would be absolutely valuable to access via IM.
Update: internally it could of course be a Jabber client employing xmpp transports - so long I can add Sandy on MSN without resorting to Jabber (or otherwise) myself. I tend to avoid installing programs on other folks' computers.

has this functionality been added yet? One thing I'm doing is using sandy to remind me about a TV show that's coming up so that I can Tivo it. I can't tivo it until 2weeks before air time so I'd like to set a reminder for that show time then put a handy relative offset like 7 days before on it. thanks.

I would also love to have this ability. The standard interval is great for most things, but if an appointment is across town I might need 30 or 40 minutes lead time to get there. I don't need an exact "remind me at 8:15a" per se, but if there was a way to override the default reminder interval to a custom one (i.e., @alert30) for that reminder that would be fab.

There are some round-about ways to accomplish this via Twitter, but I'd definitely love to have this as a native feature. It just seems natural to "ping" your assistant. Plus, it mitigates the risk of accidentally broadcasting to the world "Remember to buy [insert embarrassing item here]".
I'm trying to remember life before Sandy, but am not much enjoying the memories...
