TotSpot FAQ replied on September 16, 2008 05:17 to the question "How can I post a private video on TotSpot? Using Youtube? Using Vimeo?" in TotSpot:
Unfortunately, neither Youtube nor Vimeo allows for private videos to be imported via their APIs. We are working on our own internal, native video solution.
For the time-being, however, one of our users, Michelle, has come up with an excellent work-around. Here's here neat tip:
"I moved my videos to Vimeo. They have an option to make videos private and password protected. Then I put the password for the video in the posting on Totspot (NOT Vimeo). So what this gives me is something fairly secure.
The private setting in Vimeo makes it non-searchable in Vimeo. Only the people I've invited to Totspot will see the password. AND the videos will still play from within the Totspot page. The password prompt shows right in the video window on Totspot.
Plus I don't use any tags, channels or other features when posting video so that makes it harder for search engines to pick up.
So far I've had good luck with this configuration. (and yes I have Googled for the titles of the videos I have posted)
The benefit is that if I do want to share the video with someone not on Totspot, I can send them the link to the Vimeo site and tell them the password. No one has to set up separate Vimeo accounts to see the video. This is a big plus compared to the privacy settings that YouTube has.
This is what works for me, thought I'd share.
Michelle"

TotSpot FAQ replied on September 07, 2008 19:56 to the question "Change my avatar / picture" in TotSpot:
Yes! If you have a 'grown up' account, simply go to 'Edit Profile' and click on the link to 'change my profile picture.'
If you have a 'kid' account, go to My Profile -> My picture and theme
We are considering building a 'custom avatar' feature, but it may take some time. Is there any demand for something like that?

TotSpot FAQ replied on September 07, 2008 19:44 to the question "Adding a child to an existing account" in TotSpot:
You can add a new child (or expected child) to an existing account. Just go to your 'Preferences' page (the link to 'preferences' can be found on the top right of any page once you're logged in). On the sidebar, you'll find the option to 'Add a Sibling'.
*Note that you will have to make new 'friends' for the new child by sending out new invitations. We are working on simplifying the management of friendships and other settings for 'multiple kids'.
