Do you have a timeline on when native video will be available? – Ninja, on August 22, 2008 01:55

Be my guest!
The only issue seems to be is that there is no thumbnail displayed in the Profile page when you use this configuration. Other than that, I haven't found any problems with using this set up. – Michelle, on July 21, 2008 01:00

I actually love the idea of adding videos / music that the kids are listening too...very cool idea...might be interesting also to aggregate that type of content for the whole community...what do you think? – Michael Broukhim, on July 20, 2008 18:36

Michelle this is a fantastic solution :)...would you mind if we re-posted this on the TotSpot blog? – Michael Broukhim, on July 20, 2008 18:34

I moved my videos to Vimeo. They have an option to make videos private and password protected. Then I put the password for the video in the posting on Totspot (NOT Vimeo). So what this gives me is something fairly secure.
The private setting in Vimeo makes it non-searchable in Vimeo. Only the people I've invited to Totspot will see the password. AND the videos will still play from within the Totspot page. The password prompt shows right in the video window on Totspot.
Plus I don't use any tags, channels or other features when posting video so that makes it harder for search engines to pick up.
So far I've had good luck with this configuration. (and yes I have Googled for the titles of the videos I have posted)
The benefit is that if I do want to share the video with someone not on Totspot, I can send them the link to the Vimeo site and tell them the password. No one has to set up separate Vimeo accounts to see the video. This is a big plus compared to the privacy settings that YouTube has.
This is what works for me, thought I'd share.

I also cannot activate my phone and submitted to twitter a few weeks ago with no response. I had read on other posts that my carrier my be blocking short messages, but I called Sprint and I have no blocks on my phone. I don't know what the problem is or how to resolve but hope twitter responds and fixes some day. :)

Man! That's too bad. Could you just support the embedding of a google video if we wanted? It wouldn't take any more to embed a google video for me as a user, I wouldn't think.
I've noticed Digg.com has Google Video thumbnails (http://blog.digg.com/?p=37) so I'm sure there's someway to do it though it may not be easily accessible...hmm...
Speaking of which, I'd love to be able to embed other videos, to record some of the videos my kids are watching, or music they're listening to, if they're also on YouTube or Google. Not sure if there are concerns with that, but it's an idea anyway.

Hey JuryDuty, I looked into your issue and, unfortunately, we can't support Google Video because they don't have an API. With Vimeo and YouTube I can easily access a video's title, description and thumbnail through the API, easing the whole process of importing a video.
In the future, you'll be able to directly upload your original videos to TotSpot without uploading them into Vimeo or YouTube. We'll also continue to explore the other video solutions out there.
