No Javascript is a limiting factor for many people. Here's some ideas on integration. No Javascript is a limiting factor for many people. Here's some ideas on integration.
So the limitation of Javascript is the biggest problem with Posterous's theming system. I don't know how Tumblr works with the XSS problem, but maybe they just ignore it. But I think some simple step could really boost your communities experience.
First is the widgets you talk about in your theme support. I'd like to take a step back and think about instead of you guys working and building up widgets, how about setting up an "App Garden" or "Addon Area". This would allow people to submit their code (javascript included) for approval to ensure that nothing nefarious is going on. This code would have to be completely transparent to the community so it will gain in coding support as well as allowing others to ensure that it's not vulnerable code. You could also lighten your load by making the Addon Area's approval page a Digg style voting situation so that most wanted code gets approval first. But this way people can add {block:Addon} {UniqueAddonID} {/block:Addon} to their themes and the code is inserted.
Secondly, you have some very advanced users on Posterous. Some people with great design and JS skills. It would be nice if theming allowed for some jQuery calls. Maybe not everything, but just allowing some of these could really enhance your user-base's look. Just a thought.

Trae reported a problem in Twones on September 17, 2009 17:58:
All Services doesn't list anything.I removed some sources because I was experimenting with things and the All Services area doesn't list the ones that were removed. Therefore, I cannot get Last.FM back on my list of activities.

Where is the sources list? When you add a source is gives you Popular and Recommended sources and a Search, but there's no outright list. It may be because you don't have enough sources yet to provide this list, but a Browse link seems necessary.

@Fraser the SmartLinks javascript. If someone installs the browser addon I can understand the primary focus on social pieces, but SmartLinks should still primarily serve the larger audience. The old version was useful, the new one is confuses people not apart of the Glue network. – Trae, on June 07, 2009 05:05-

I've got to agree, I loved the old Smart Links application. In fact that's what drew me to your service. The new focus on other people is nothing like what I wanted. Is there a way to return to the old Smart Links (with a Glue sub-feature) instead of this new Glue social feature and hidden Smart Links info?
If not, I'm afraid I cannot keep this on my site any longer...-

Any way I could get an invite to this private beta? Multiple photos is something I've been wanting on Tumblr for a very long time, I'd love to do what I can to help give you guys some feedback. – Trae, on May 03, 2009 19:15

A comment on the idea "Facebook Connect." in IntenseDebate:
I agree with Paul, but also Chris Brogan's post doesn't directly deal with the piece people are wanting. His article discusses the use of FBConnect in building a social network. All we are wanting is the ability to use Facebook logins for your comments. ID would still handle your comments, as well as sync them to your WP account if you wish, but in addition...you'll also use FB profiles and have those comments sent to Facebook for syndication.
I don't think anyone here is being short sighted here as this post is nearly as old as Facebook Connect itself. As well as donnacha's point indicating ID's primary competitor has implemented this for 3 months now, and in this day of rapid innovation you can't sit on the sidelines (as ID has done with this) and expect everyone to just be happy with their service. – Trae, on March 05, 2009 17:39

Michael, we are all still waiting for information regarding this feature. Please update this thread in order to let us know if this is happening or not. I can't tell you how many times I consider moving away from ID until this is implemented. A little information every once in a while will go a long way. – Trae, on March 04, 2009 14:06
