Is it possible for me to buy the 1.5" quick release shoulder straps (the ones that come with the Metro) instead of the wider 2" ones?

No offense, but the XS messenger bag is just not for me. Way too clunky, and the strap is not removable. The Metro is the IT bag; too bad you don't let us customize it. I'd be happy to pay more for the opportunity.

I totally disagree -- this is an awesome unisex bag! Nothing female about it, especially depending on the color of the bag. Pink? Maybe, but a black one? Not at all! It's a great size and significantly larger than a purse, so you won't feel self-conscious in the least.
