cadwmaster's reply to "Adding MTP Sync support for Linux" was just promoted to the most useful! travisn000 and 2 other people think it's one of the best replies.
I get a temporary solution, you can use FolderSync addon to sync a playlist with your MTP, here is the link:
FolderSync Addon
I hope that helps

I'm having same issue; error console reports:
Error: GStreamer error: Internal data flow error. Additional information: gstbasesrc.c(2234): gst_base_src_loop (): /GstPlayBin2:player/GstURIDecodeBin:uridecodebin5/GstFileSrc:source:
streaming task paused, reason not-linked (-1)
..tested gstreamer:
gst-launch-0.10 playbin uri="file:///path/to/music.mp3"
and gstreamer plays fine..

I am also having this issue; I have tried the method you suggest.
Running the script "songbird" from console after extracting gives the error:
Floating point exception"$prog" ${1+"$@"}
..and running the binary executable "songbird-bin" gives this error:
/usr/lib/Songbird/songbird-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libjemalloc.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.
Some searching of my system show that this library does exist:
/usr/lib/Songbird/xulrunner/libjemalloc.so
/usr/lib/Songbird/libjemalloc.so
/usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9/libjemalloc.so-

..just an update; I get the same error weather I use songbird v1.0 as downloaded, or as repackaged into an RPM, so I don't think the problem is with my packaging.
Some searching on bash "Floating point exception" seems to indicate that these are often caused by environmental variables not being set as expected.. not sure if this is the case for this one though.
I've also been looking into the startup scripts for thunderbird v2 and firefox v3 as they both use very similar scripts, but I still haven't been able to figure out why they work and songbirds doesn't.
If it helps, when I try to run songbird-bin without the songbird start-up script I get the following error:
[my-user@home Songbird]$ ./songbird-bin
./songbird-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libjemalloc.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I did some searching and the "missing" library does exist at the following locations:
/usr/lib/Songbird/xulrunner/libjemalloc.so
/usr/lib/Songbird/libjemalloc.so
/usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9/libjemalloc.so

A comment on the question "how to install songbird 1.0 on linux?" in Songbird:
It is installed to /usr/lib/Songbird/
..I've tried running as user and root; even updated the spec for our RPM build to update permissions / make executable so that it should be usable by any user.
again, more details are available here:
http://www.mypclinuxos.com/forum/inde...
..If there is a way to hardcode the value of the exports from the songbird script (instead of trying to detect them), and the value of ${1+"$@"} into our own helper script, I think that would be an acceptable solution, but I couldn't find any documentation of what these values should be.
ie.;
#!/bin/sh
cd /usr/lib/Songbird
MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=XXXXXXXXXXX
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=XXXXXXXXXXX
SHLIB_PATH=XXXXXXXXXXX
LIBPATH LIBRARY_PATH=XXXXXXXXXXX
ADDON_PATH=XXXXXXXXXXX
DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=XXXXXXXXXXX
export MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export SHLIB_PATH LIBPATH LIBRARY_PATH ADDON_PATH DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH
./songbird-bin << value of ${1+"$@"} >>
cd /
exit

A comment on the question "how to install songbird 1.0 on linux?" in Songbird:
Tried creating an RPM for PCLinuxOS.. the current 0.7.0 PCLOS rpm has the "update" option in the menus greyed out.
My endeavor is outlined here:
http://www.mypclinuxos.com/forum/inde...
PCLOS is a "rolling release"; the OS is continually updated, it doesn't really have versions like ubuntu, etc. – travisn000, on December 18, 2008 15:35

iwantsandy GPS navigation integrationA 'social' web connected gps navigation device was released last year called the Dash (http://www.dash.net). I was recently poking around their website to see what sort of improvements were in the works and I see they have released an API to allow 3rd party applications to interface with it.. iwantsandy.com seems like it could be a good match; maybe something similar to the Funambol integration:

( http://blog.dash.net/2008/05/13/dasha... )
..It could be very useful to have your GPS navigation system notify you to complete a to-do item when you are in the vicinity ("remind me to buy toilet paper at the store..")
..for a brief over view of dash watch this youtube video:
