tsr - I don't think that will work. If you are in the "internet" zone and you move to the local zone by using file:// most browsers get upset and I wouldn't want to reduce the browser security settings ot allow file otherwise there is bound to be something nasty like file://"cmd format my hard disk"!

Have you tried this lately in IE7 / FF?

I used to have a way to get around it:

1. Generate the hyperlink in a blank page in Word.
2. Copy the hyperlink that is in the word blank page
3. Paste it in the edit page in your wiki page and save

It used to work in IE (at least it did for a couple months), as of today it doesn't work.

I think the problem comes right at the moment you save the wiki page, since it automatically replaces blank spaces with + in your
"file://your drive name/your directory/your file"
thus becoming
"file://your+drive+name/your+directory/your+file"
and stops working...

I've never experienced this problem and I'd like to try to recreate it.

Allowing comment email notification would be great. It would be useful when something out of the ordinaire happens (such that doesn't fit right in the wiki design)...
