I have the same trouble, first with pingdotfm@gmail.com bot, after change to pingbot@ping.fm, i'm using pidgin with jabber account.

I have presentation (one :-D) in slideshare, using creative common's license, maybe can be append one option to have the possibility to get donation's using paypal, slideshare can use the paypal API for that.
