There seems to be no good news for some of us. The list of countries with the new deals will be waited very anxiously but honestly I have no Hope that Portugal will be there.
All of the so called alternatives use internet connections that most of the time cannot be used efficiently. SMS is not the same as Internet so I don't see how they even called alternatives!
Twitter is loosing functionality and stability and I would guess that the free service is near to the end.. or even worst. the whole service is near to the end since I don't see any investors.-

I got so disappointed when reading this. It just seems that twitter is running away from them own convictions. After all, I suppose that the any TOS is written with heart and head and not just something written on top of the knee to fix up latter when most convenient! The TOS has to be followed by everyone, including the company! If you don't agree with your on Terms, then I wonder what do you agree with and gets me thinking that, after all, is not anything related with users (as you try so hard to convey!) – ups, on May 25, 2008 02:09-
