I think the point is that ads are fine, but seeing the SAME ad every day benefits neither you nor your users.
The point of ads is to pique our interest, sell us a product, and at its core, give us information. If you did a simple Google AdWords box, that would benefit both you and your users--adwords would give us dynamic, contextually relevant ads (based on picture tags!).-

valor replied on October 24, 2008 22:01 to the question "The Twitter privacy issue revisited: private/private." in Brightkite:
The "official" response is that you can xpost in private mode:
http://getsatisfaction.com/brightkite...
But you're absolutely right--private/private posting does not work. KiltBear is right on the money. If BrightKite treats twitter like a "friend" then why can't I set that friend's access?-

valor replied on October 24, 2008 21:50 to the idea "Ability to post to Twitter while in Private Mode" in Brightkite:
The solution by Martin defeats the entire purpose of private mode.
Private mode: makes things so that certain people (i.e. the universe) do not see things you don't want them to.
Making posts available to "everyone else" makes it show up--to everyone else, even if they don't even have an account (like on the home page).
As KiltBear states, Twitter has its own privacy settings, so the best solution would be, as (s)he states, allow the option to make twitter a friend / trusted friend.
