As an electronics enthusiast myself, I can understand your frustration.
I have found that there are a few things to remember in situations such as this, though.
1) As Bekah mentioned, price matching is definitely a possibility.
2) Price is definitely important, but I would advise caution in using it as your only deciding factor in your purchase. There are many other important factors such as customer service and reliability, two things Vann's prides itself on.
3) Purchasing products from unauthorized dealers will almost always void the product's warranty.
4) While this is not usually the case, some dealers will charge more for shipping or taxes, which can end up costing more overall.
5) Finally, this is something Vann's only has so much control over. We do the best we can to maintain competitive prices, often offering the lowest price on items, even sometimes prices below what the manufacturer allows us to advertise! However, the manufacturers sell products to different dealers at different prices based on a lot of factors including the volume of the purchase or our history with the dealer. While sometimes, as in this case, other companies offer lower prices, this usually works in Vann's' and the customers' favors by allowing us to provide you with the best deals on the hottest products.

If you are not a fan of NSI, you should be happy to know vanns.com recently made the switch from NSI to SquareTrade extended warranties. SquareTrade offers several advantages including generally having lower prices than most store's warranties and offering coverage for accidents as opposed to just defects. More importantly, though, SquareTrade has an excellent, verifiable record of great customer service.
NSI will still be available for in-store purchases, and SquareTrade will be available upon request in our retail stores.

As a copywriter at Vann's, I can assure you we do our best to ensure that the specifications of our products are listed in order for accurate comparison. With the way our internal writing software operates, we have ten comparison specifications which designate what should be listed there. The additional specifications and manufacturer specifications are left blank to allow for different features on different products. We try to match the specifications up as well as possible, but sometimes they just end up in different parts of the build. This happens more when different copywriters do the different builds, or when the different products have release dates far apart. While we try to have one copywriter tackle all the builds for a series, since comparisons can be made between any products in the same category, it's just not possible to have the same copywriter build all the products in a category.
This is a problem we constantly challenge ourselves with, and if you have a suggestion on how to accomplish this better, please let us know. Otherwise, I would like to assure you we are doing the best we can with what we have.
