Vipre Rescue Scanner Failing ProblemThanks to PeterH for the help with my problem.
Did not get this installation of Windows 2000 to accept the VipreRescue. Have not tried this on any other Windows 2000 installations. Works great on Windows XP.
Eventually installed Vipre without any problems.
Thanks again PeterH.

Vipre rescue will not work on this computer.
Installed Vipre without any problems. Updated and did a quick scan and found several items. Deep scan running now. Should have just installed Vipre abd I would not have had the problem with VipreRescue. – vcw39, on March 31, 2009 22:39

Could not find any log file in vipre or in the windows log files pertaining to Vipre. The SBREDrv.dll file was not written to the system file. Did copy this manually and will reboot and see if VipreRescue works after the ESET NOD 32 online scan that is running completes. – vcw39, on March 31, 2009 16:25

SP4 Rollup 1 is installed. Get same error window when trying to install AVG Free 8 with too much time exceeded with fail to install. Have not tried to install Vipre yet. Windows update also failing. Am going to try in safe mode. – vcw39, on March 31, 2009 14:55

Vipre Rescue Scanner FailingVipre Rescue Scanner not working on computer with Windows 2000 Professional.
I booted the computer up and entered the Administrator account. Downloaded VipreRescue5068.exe, extracted and allowed scan. Immediately get a error window showing the following:
VIPRERescueScan has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created.
This happens in any account and also in safe mode. Also happens if I run this with VipreRescue from a USB card.

He probably didn't use the Norton removal tool and the parts of Norton left on the computer slowed down Vipre. I had a similar problem and it cleared up when I used the Norton removal tool available from Norton. Have been using Vipre since it came out and Sunbelt Personal Firewall shortly after Sunbelt Software bought Kerio and had CounterSpy installed and have only had one problem in each that was quickly fixed when reported.

why does the update for 15 day trial fail? After installing Vipre in a Gateway M-6307 the update failed. Definition version 2353.
Opening Vipre and initiating a scan causes an update to start, this fails after a few minutes, and the scan completes normally.
Initiating a manual update also fails after a few minutes.
