Well i found it quite nicely hidden here.

When are you going to stop wasting time and just offer the SAME PC and let people CHOOSE the OS themselves?
viamptor asked a question in Dell on February 24, 2009 21:52:
Well id like to buy a mini with ubuntuI cant find an ubuntu mini on your site. I keep getting "server busy" errors have you been slashdotted?

Also anything over the 140 is truncated currently
maybe it would be a good idea to allow it to be split into Part 1) And Part 2)

Oscar the comment had nothing to do with linux as a whole but todo with synaptic in general.
Ive used just about every linux distro you can think of even before "distros"
most modern distros have some for of package manager be it rpm =yum dpkg =apt portage even slack has basic tgz packaging system.
The hp mini has IS ubuntu and has apt under the hood..... Thanks to your post i just found out about the elegant interface built ontop of it. Im going to install it on a usb stick and try it out
thanks

Text isnt the best way to communicate (maybe theyll allow for audio/video in the future??) The way it reads to me can and HAS been interpreted differently than it was meant to be..
Matt (heh thats my name too) no apology was necessary really my language was not abusive.
"so easy a cave man can do it " was just to let the op know it was extremely easy to use to put her at ease. (see also "dead simple ease of use)
And i still DO find it hard to believe asus tech said that.. It wasnt intened to make the op seem like a liar (if i had thought they were I WOULD JUST SAY SO) Should be read. as amanda posted above ......
.
Amanda "Even if she was just trolling, setting her straight in a way that helps the next reader is easy enough" I will take that advice thank you. PS (synaptic is a gui front end for apt :P)
Deborah...... the one thing in my entire post that was inappropriate (not "abusive" or "contemptful") imho was "this information took me about 5 minutes to look up" And i do apologize for that.....

My response was meant to be helpful. But some of the things posted seemed like fud to me. Anyone else think so too??? Anyway it wasnt meant to be condescending. As as a member of the linux community i feel i have to respond to some of these posts sternly because some people are legitimately just out to discredit linux. I am here to help people as well in some cases to be helped. If my response was not helpful i am sorry to hear that.

Labels/filters are not working properly anymore.Labels are not working properly anymore. Heres the scoop i added an account made a label made a filter telling all mail coming to myaddedaccount@myaddress.com be labeled with the new label and SKIP the inbox/archive. Well they are being labeled just fine but are ending up in my inbox my "main" inbox not the labels whats going on>?

Its a good idea ted works on mac osx windoze and has some limited support for linux so it should be easy for them to implement on all three platforms.....
Im not sure how ted is licensed if its gpl or lgpl or bsd etc it should be cake.
Not that you really need to anyway you just point boxee to where the files are downloaded too. but still like the idea-

1) Thats WRONG install apps using synaptic package manager. its so easy a cave man could do it.
if you want more flexibility go into full desktop mode
go here to find out more http://wiki.eeeuser.com/#software
2)There are plenty of usb dialup devices that work use google
and you DONT have to be a "programmer" for them to work
heres one with a quick google search that should work "out of the box"
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product...
I checked its on the linux hardware compatability list
3) The Sierra 881 usb works but is difficult to get up and running there are alot of rather long howtos you can find them with a google search.
But id use one of these http://tinyurl.com/aqssbl (since you are looking for dead simple ease of use)
There are other manufacturers that make similar devices as well that was one of the first i came across.
I find it hard to believe asus customer support said any of those things........ make your own conclusions folks............
As a side note i dont even own an asus eeepc this information took me about 5 minutes to look up.
