Hi Adam!
I have faith that you LinkedIn heroes will eventually help here on Get Satisfaction :) Thanks for looking into the situation. I look forward to accessing "who viewed my profile" one more- to thank them for visiting.
I have not had much luck going thru LinkedIn Customer Service channels in the past. I had posted a few questions, suggestions and problems and never got so much as an email.
Cheers!

Brian,
Usually LinkedIn customer service via Get Satisfaction has quicly come to my aide in the past to rectify hiccups. Unfortunately I posted this question and partiular problem a month ago, with a subsequent inquiry 17 days ago- and yet I have not heard a peep other than you with a similar problem.
Perhaps it has slipped thru the cracks, or they are particularly busy with internal work loads. I am keeping the faith for awhile longer.
LinkedIn- can you shed some light on how to get my homepage back up to par? I do not know how the "who viewed my profile" option disappeared- or if other previous options are no longer available
PLEASE HELP?
Thanks!

"Who Viewed My Profile" has disappeared!Hello LinkedIn buddies at Get Satisfaction!
I recently updated my LinkedIn Homepage. Somehow I inadvertently hit something that made the visibility of who and how many times others have "viewed my profile" disappear. I love that feature, and I have not found a way to establish reconnection.
Can you give me advice, or simply reboot my homepage to default for me?
Rebooting if possible is my favorite solution- as I may have wiped out another feature that has not caught my attention yet

Hello Adam,
Thank you for your candor, as well as your team's efforts in finding the multiple solutions to this issue. I was not aware that their was another link regarding similar issues with the Network Stats on LinkedIn- it should have come up when I stated my problem originally.
I did suppy my profile link, as well as copied the error message in my original request. Perhaps this should be a prerequisite on GetSatisfaction for the originating request, as well as all who join in the conversation that are having the same issues. I agree that this would help your team, as well as other team's here on GetSatisfaction to find solutions. It would be more productive than listening to a bunch of angry people chiming in and pointing fingers which has happened in the past ;)
I am still having the bug, but am hoping it will be fixed once the first patch is completed. I will let you know after I log in on Monday. Keep up the good work!
Cheers!

Good morning Adam,
I am happy to hear you and your partners at LinkedIn isolated th issue, and that a patch is in the works. I am looking forward to full functuality hopefully by next week. I will let you know either way, so your team knows whether it solves the issues.
I do know that GetSatisfaction is not an official LinkedIn forum, and that you and other employees help whenever you are not busy with your regular duties at LinkedIn. I truly appreciate the level of customer service you and your team have offered here at GetSatisfaction in the past, which is why I returned to the forum. When a week went by without contact, I thought perhaps my question and issue might have fallen thru the cracks.
My level of frustration stemmed from my view as a customer paying $600/ yr for a service that is malfunctioning. LinkedIn is a major part of my business strategy that I have come to depend on. Network Statistics is one way I evaluate my efforts spent on LinkedIn. I waited several weeks before coming forward- hoping the issue would be solved. Perhaps if I had come forward sooner- your team may have solved the issue quicker.
Thanks to you and your team mates!
Cheers!

Gents-
I have purposefully not accepted any invitations (other than one) sense this conversation started- curious to see the outcome
Dec 11th:
Your trusted friends and colleagues 7,098

Three degrees away: 18,249,200+
Total users you can contact through an Intro 19,576,900+
Two days ago:
Your trusted friends and colleagues 8,261
Two degrees away: 1,526,000+
Three degrees away: 14,462,400+
Total users you can contact through an Intro 15,996,800+
Today:
Your trusted friends and colleagues 8,262
Two degrees away 1,531,300+
Three degrees away 14,470,000+
Total users you can contact through an Intro 16,009,500+
I can only imagine what a mind boggling chore it must be keeping track of LinkedIn's growth- with 32+ mill users on a 24/7 global time clock. This has been an eye opening adventure. Thank you for a birds-eye-view inside LinkedIn. Although admittedly still bummed an epiphany did not reverse my numbers, as some of my colleagues reported- It is somewhat comforting to know that these numbers are now solidly founded. Thank you Adam, Esteban and LinkedIn comrads!
Cheers!

Adam,
I have done as asked- I just sent you an inmail via LinkedIn. I greatly appreciate your interest and offer to look into my profile situation. As a LinkedIn client, sales management professional and entrepreneurial business owner- I recognize excellent customer service when I see it.
My background in sales management is partnered with a keen interest in analytics. I have been avidly watching all degrees and introdution reach of my profile network statistics as I have been building it. It has grown proportionately the entire growth period. It has not grown exponentially or abnormally in Dec or Jan to warrant a recent issue with calculations as you may be suggesting. To have dropped in such great numbers (greater than 15% and close to 5 million) does not make mathamatical or logical sense.
Thank you again for your time and consideration.
Cheers!

Thanks for replying to my questions Adam,
I am still confused, as you are stating that you changed the algorithm in November. My stats for December 11th were:
Your trusted friends and colleagues 7,098
Two degrees away: 1,320,600+
Three degrees away: 18,249,200+
Total users you can contact through an Intro 19,576,900+
I actually say the number I could supposedly be reached via intros climb to over 20.6 million thru January. So in fact my drop of 3,786,800 mill in 3rd degree occurred after your changes in algorithm and did not change after your patch on Tuesday. I did hear another colleague whose 3rd degree dropped to 9 mill and then regained to 15 mill this week.
This leaves me frustrated and questioning as to why is my network drastically dropping now? Am I one of the unlucky "edge cases"? I have worked 7 days a week for months to build a very solid network. I was so pleased with LI that I not was a paid member- I recently increased to a higher membership with more tools. I agree with the others that it is disheartening to see the numbers drop.
I have sought out most of the super-connectors, have connected with them over the past year and by doing so have gained wisdom and expertise in utilizing LI to it's fullest capabilities. I assume it makes my network more dense than the average network, and from your comments that makes me a prime target for the overestimation theory?
It still seems that a drop of 4.7 million seems to steep a number to have been overestimated? It also is confusing as to why it dropped after your November change.
Thank you for your time and consideration!

I am a serious networker/ use LI daily. I had 8000 1st degree & 20.6 Mill thru intros, 3rd degree close to 19 mill. My current stats —
Your trusted friends and colleagues 8,261
Two degrees away: 1,526,000+
Three degrees away: 14,462,400+
Total users you can contact through an Intro 15,996,800+
Are you saying that I now can no longer be introduced to 4.7 million people, or it was an eroneous number? How can LinkedIn have had such an incorrect methodology of estimating their connections that translates into the millions? You state that it has only affected a few when we see so many discussing frustration- here, on Li, Twitter, etc. I had a higher reach 1000 direct connections ago at 3rd degree 18,249,200 & intros to 19,576,900.
What degree does the "small edge" represent of the 32 mill users? Please define "extremly large networks". Is that anyone over 100 1st degree? I see people with 1000 to 30,000 stating issues.A suggeston to prevent mass confusion might be better communication between Li & users prior to rolling out changes- such as LI blog.
Thank you for your candor on Get Satisfaction.

Vicki Bass-DeBinion shared an idea in LinkedIn on October 03, 2008 22:43:
a forum for job seekers- 750,00 Jobless....seeking Help! With the announcement today on the news stating there are 750,000 jobless people in the USA sense Jan 2008, you would be doing a tremendous service by allowing a specific place for Job Seekers to post: headline, introductions, short blurb leading to our links, similar to the job postings allowed by companies and recruiters.
Postings are going up on many discussion boards and either being pulled down or risking being flagged. We do not wish to be intrusive, we wish to seek employment. I have also received info from job seekers by way of messages on invitations, introductions, inmail, and emails blasts as we struggle to gain visibility and hopefully a new career.
As there is presently not an approved forum on LI for our postings, everyone is desperately seeking a forum that will be accepted and not risk being flagged, angering our fellow LI members, or dilute the discussion boards with items we are being told that are not welcome.
I consider myself lucky with 32 yrs of networking skills to lean on. I fear for the many who are floundering and do not have skills in gaining visibility or in meeting the right party who can hire. Many of us are barely surviving and struggling on unemployment. Worse off are those poor souls who were fired without income and facing an impossible task to provide shelter and food for their families. I am evangelistic in sharing as best as I can with as many as I can tips to help them.
I personally have been searching hard using my networking skills to pull me up in the rankings and gaining the right visibility. I am thankful for LI and have come far in 2 months, but spending 12 hr days 7 days/ week to do so. I am running out of money, but confidant the right opportunity will come.
I believe LI is THE answer above and beyond the career boards. Please consider my request, on behalf of not only me and my family_ but for the thousands of other LI users. We would prefer to be happily networking, and using LI for its wonderful networking capabilities in the methods for which it was intended.
With much respect and hope for consideration,

Thank you both for taking time to answer me. I have been on multiple times in the past during maintainance and got to watch the LI Wizard until it came back on live. This time it had the weird error message I displayed on my original question, which sent me into a panic mode.
I listened to a recent chat about someone claiming to have had their profile accidentally erased, and I thought it may have happened to me.
Another reminder to myself to back up my contacts again. I regularly keep my entire profile backed up just in case, including the profile, recommendations and groups. I depend greatly on my Social Networks, with LI as my main contact data base. Despite the growing pains LI is going thru, it is a pleasure to be onboard.
Thank you both again, for your time! I am impressed and grateful for the speedy answers to my cry for help!
Cheers!
