I see that the general view is that although PB's additions and features are pretty neat, useful and cool, the added value doesn't justify the 60 $ for a lifetime license. And lets not forget that there are still quite a lot of bugs.
(has anyone found out how to add secondary emails from the contacts panel btw, and wthy the hell does the "load more" button exist? I just want to see all my attachments!)
At the moment most of us can use at least 3 other alternatives (free or bundled with almost de facto program suites) already on our computers,
So, wouldn't it be better if 500 bought PB for 10$ rather than 100 for 30$?

OpenDNS makes money displaying ads when you get 404s. You could display ads when we get spam. Or have a line with ads like gmails web clips.
Or show relevant ads beside the emails gmail-style.
the possibilities are endless.
And let's not forget that if you cannot create a product within the price range most customers are willing to pay its not the customers fault.

There's not enough additional functionality to justify a price that high. I love "the gui, and the search function is unmatched, IME. But It's not worth $50 for it, when I can use Thunderbird"

I created a poll. Lets show the developers how much we would pay!!!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
POLL: How much would you pay for a POSTBOX license?.
A comment on the question "How much does Postbox cost?" in Postbox, Inc.:
Yes, I expect to be paid in order to earn a living.
However, if you make a product that needs to be priced 50$ and the public wont pay more than 10 you have failed.
What the poll is trying to show is whether postbox planning was correct. Selling postbox for 40 $ (without lifetime licence) if most wont pay more than 10 isnt viable.
Its the creators' right to charge whatever they think is right according to their efforts and costs. And it is the buyers' right to choose the value of this product according to their needs and the competition.
All the poll is trying to show is whether the price was right according to the buyers. – vincent, on July 30, 2009 11:40
