A comment on the problem "SBAMsvc.exe causing 100% CPU utilization" in Sunbelt Software:
Richard.. just for the record. I am only reporting what Sunbelt recommended to correct the problem. These steps were only shared to help others with the same problem. Turning off features does make one question the effectiveness of the product without those features. I appreciate sharing your experience and comments; we all seem to be in the same boat...sinking. – Vtek, on September 19, 2008 00:36

Active Protection Disabled- system lock upVipre shield turns red then announces active protection is not running followed by system lock up. Anyone else have this problem. I must reboot my system- sometimes several times.

Sunbelt's response to this fix is to disable the rootkit detection which is under review for corrective action. I would think that you would want to keep the setting of "checking on file opening" as part of the active protection process or you run the risk of exposing an unwanted action on the PC. . . just a thought. – Vtek, on September 02, 2008 01:58
Vtek replied on August 24, 2008 00:00 to the problem "Active protection disabled after boot up" in Sunbelt Software:
I have been experiencing this problem as well over the past 2 weeks.
1.Sometimes Vipre shield sits in the system tray at start up which then turns red and announces that active protection is disabled. Shortly thereafter my system will lock up requiring me to perform a cold shut down. Task manager or other actions do not respond.
2.Sometimes Vipre shield does not appear in system tray at all after boot up.
3.The rootkit detection option was disabled prior to this issue and has no bearing on correcting the problem since it wasn't active anyway.
Anyone else experience this? What is the fix? When will an updated version be released? Many of the fix solutions appear to be related to disabling the Root Kit detection option, but it seems deeper than just that.
