WadeNG asked a question in Twitter on January 05, 2009 16:33:
iPhone Twitter apps safe? My Twitter account has been hacked again!I had my Twitter account hacked on 1/4/09. The hacker changed my Twitter email and password. Twitter was quick in changing my email back and I was able to make a new password. I made a new unique password, with numbers and letters, and today my account is hacked again. I did not click any bad links, log in to a fake Twitter website, etc. Either the hacker has found a way to exploit Twitter, via a cookie, etc, or the hacker is accessing my new password from one of my iPhone twitter apps. I use a bunch of them as I'm seeing which I like, Twitterfon, Twinkle, Twittelator, Tweetsville, and Tweetie. Could one of these developers be stealing passwords?
I did notice when my account was hacked I was still logged in and was able to post updates, but I wasn't able to edit the email without the new password. This makes me think there is some way to exploit the login cookie/session, etc. I think Twitter needs to go over their security and beef it up. They shouldn't allow email changes without an email being sent to the original email addrss to confirm the change. If I got an email from Twitter asking if I wanted to confirm an email change I could have stopped this myself.
If someone at Twitter is monitoring this, I put in a request on Twitter, but my account is once again hacked "twitter.com/wadeng"

I don't recall visiting any of these sites, but it is certainly possible I did. They changed my password and email.
http://www.twitter.com/wadeng is my account, prior email was wade@newgrounds.com.

I'd thought I'd add that the email I used to register my twitter.com account was "wade@newgrounds.com" but someone changed my email and password. Any help from Twitter employees is greatly appreciated. – WadeNG, on January 05, 2009 01:27

I got no email from twitter about my email and password being changed. How can someone change my info without me getting an email to approve it? Even if they get my password there should still be an approval email sent... – WadeNG, on January 05, 2009 00:54

I have to use another twitter app to see nearby twitter users, I wish they would show up in Twinkle's nearby as well. Also blocked users still take up room in the listing, even though their tweats don't show up. Sometimes I only have a handful of nearby tweets visible because the blocked users are taking up the rest of the slots. Their posts should be completely removed so the nearby tweats they pushed down with their frequent tweats can be viewed. Does anyone at Tapulous actually use Twinkle? You would think the developers would instantly notice these annoyances. We also need a way to manage our block list incase people are blocked by mistake.

Try to find someone with multiple postings, then block them, and you should see the nearby list shows everything it showed before, minus the blocked user, but nothing additional as a result of clearing out the blocked user's postings. So if someoone accounts for every posting except two and I blocked them, I would then be left with two postings until more new ones come in. I would like to be able to see the postings the blocked user pushed off the nearby list.

I had this problem, but I was able to fix it. Go here:
http://www.skyhookwireless.com/howitw...
Click the link to submit a Wi-Fi location. You will have to get the exact MAC address from your Wi-Fi Access Point. It maybe listed right on the router. Enter this into the form as well as your exact location (I used Google Earth to put a pin right on top of where my AP is located in my house and copied over the coordinates).
Then you wait, maybe a week or two, or more. If you did everything right at some point your iTouch and Twinkle should be able to get a location for you.

The new block feature does not work as it should. The new block features appears to have some flaws. When viewing nearby tweats there are sometimes users who post very frequently and the nearby listing maybe full of only their posts, or mainly their posts. Tonight I had someone who accounted for half of the nearby tweats and I blocked them. What happened next annoyed me, it simply hid their tweats and didn't replace them with the tweats they had knocked off the list. ?? So now when they post they will still knock off other people's tweats? When someone is blocked they shouldn't continue to be an invisible place holder in the list, they should be gone and new tweats should load in to fill up the space they left. Please fix this, it is very frustrating.
Also under settings there should be a way to manage our block list. What if we block someone by mistake? We should have a list of blocked users and have the ability to unblock them. Did anyone think this through?-
