i agree - Sandy is *so close* to being a killer app for me. She just needs to be a bit more reliable to be my eBrain of choice (I don't need any help forgetting things - I can do that well enough on my own) – wayne, on October 20, 2008 17:12

Down for me too. Very frustrating - SMS is my primary interface to Sandy and its maddingly unreliable. Sandy needs to allow a third email address so I can use my wireless carriers SMS to email service as backup

I now use Dial2do to accomplish "looking up lists on my phone". I send Sandy a lookup request via SMS (eg lookup @costco). I wait a minute for Sandy to send the email. They I get Dial2do to to READ ME MY EMAIL!!! Absolutely fantastic!!!

Hi Sean - I would say special casing "tag with" to mean "@" would be fine and would work well (& is how Jott does it). But the real killer app is being able to create lists (already discussed here: http://getsatisfaction.com/iwantsandy... and http://getsatisfaction.com/iwantsandy...). I can get a single reminder item into Sandy pretty quickly with SMS; however getting a 5 or 6 item list into Sandy is where voice transcription would be *really* useful (& is something I'd pay for) – wayne, on October 17, 2008 16:27

excellent - transcription had no problem with my funny accent too.... But couldn't get "tag with" to work (didn't come out as "@"... came out as "tag with"). Any hints?

3rd email address as a mitigation of SMS unreliability

When I first started using Sandy I used my personal email account + my cell phone email address (<phone>@vtext.com), so I could use my phone to send items to Sandy (SMS on my phone is my primary interface with Sandy - I have email on my phone, but it's *much* quicker to use SMS for short messages).

This worked well for a while until the Verizon SMS to mail service went walkabout for about 2 days. So then I switched to Twitter for SMS, and that worked well until the twitter direct messages started getting all gummed up...

In the meantime I started using Sandy at work, using my work email address as my second email address, and I don't want to give that up.

So I could really use a *third* email address, which I would set as <phone>@vtext.com, so if Twitter went on the blink again, I could have an SMS backup. Between my phone carriers SMS to email service, and twitter, I would think I'd have close to 100% uptime on SMS...</phone></phone>

I emailed a reminder to a friend and Sandy; the reminder is put on my calendar, and my friend shows up on my "friends" list. However, neither I nor the reminder show up on my friends account, even though their sharing setting is set to "Accept with notification"

Starting last night and continuing this morning, I've not been able to send Sandy items via twitter. email is OK, but but direct sms's to sandy via twitter have been going in a black hole

thanks for the response - i hope you guys can figure it out. I looked at getfri first - but I just couldn't bring myself to become a customer of a company that required me to sign up via fax. OK, I paid my money, wrote up a simple task, and sat back and waited. My task went to "In progress" within a couple of hours and then nothing, complete radio silence for what is almost 48 hours now. For s service that promotes itself as "better than Get Friday" this isn't a good start
