You know, just keeping Tweetie 1.x around for this isn't a bad idea. – wazungu, on October 13, 2009 00:25

Thought it through a bit, and I'm about to reverse myself.
Even though Ping.fm was available in Tweetie 1.x, I didn't use it. I wanted to focus on using - and interacting - with Twitter in that interface. Ping.fm is about transmitting updates, not interacting.
I generally use Ping.fm via SMS (simple, quick, no data access needed) or email (for sending photo updates to multiple services).
I certainly don't want EVERY tweet going to ALL services I have connected (which, I believe, was how it was in 1.x). Without a per-message option (and that means a user interface in Tweetie), I don't see the value of adding Ping.fm.

Services like Ping.fm (hellotxt is another) do one important thing: allow users to choose what services they want to update. Each service has its own gateway. New services and abilities are added by Ping.fm - and the apps that use it get the benefits. It's a really deep service. – wazungu, on October 13, 2009 00:16-

I was looking in the App Store for an SMS scheduling app (SMS > Ping.fm > Social networks). Nothing decent at all.
No idea how involved it is (kind of a hybrid that would need an input field, the calendar interface, and a list of scheduled tweets), but BOY is that a need waiting to be filled.
If you are indeed working on it, my suggestion is to keep it simple (focus on scheduling, what the Hootlet does now as your guide) and don't try to be TweetDeck for iPhone (yet!).

At least, the owl.ly redirection service. I don't see any reason to stop using Hootsuite entirely, at least not yet. – wazungu, on April 28, 2009 19:55
