Dave Simon replied on June 12, 2009 17:54 to the problem "Mangled special characters." in PitchEngine:
This is a issue because of the character encoding Microsoft Word uses. In fact, the majority of forms on the web that you copy and paste Word into will behave exactly as Pitchengine.
To change Word's settings to use "dumb quotes" instead of "smart quotes" follow the instructions here: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13880_3-983...
HTML doesn't recognize smart quotes without using special entity encoding. To get smart quotes, ellipses, em-dashes, etc, you have to use special entities:& ldquo; & rdquo; & hellip; & mdash;
(without the space after the &. Those are there to preserve the text and not have it converted to special characters.)
We are considering ways of dealing with this issue, including "WYSIWYG" editors, etc. However, we want to find the best possible solution for all of our customers.
If you should come across an odd character in your release, simply remove it and replace it either with HTML entities (above) or plain text equivalents like ",',...,-, etc.

Releases are not viewable before being published. A visitor to address of a draft release will be sent to a page that says the release has either expired or has not been made live yet. Could you show me where you are seeing a different behavior?
As far as the preview link, that was provided so that a release can be shared with your client or colleagues without having to make it live. Though it can be seen without a password, a person would have to know the release number to "sneak a peek."
This is not a security issue because this does not effect access to account information.
Password protection for previews is an option we could consider adding in the future.

Dave Simon replied on April 29, 2009 19:12 to the question "Brand Logo Not Aligning Correctly" in PitchEngine:
Armando -
This behavior was occurring because the body of the release had the start of an anchor tag (link) but no end to it. This caused havok with the release.
I've closed the tag for you, and now the release is looking as expected.
Although we allow some HTML in the release field, sometimes it can cause problems with saving to the database. For instance, characters such as quotes can indicate the end of a field, so it is best to use HTML entities for them, such as"or&ldquo &rdquo

It appears from your url in your preview that you did not have a title at the time. That is the problem.
Pitchengine URLs follow the format: http://www.pitchengine.com/[brandname]/[title]/[number]

Dave Simon replied on April 17, 2009 18:07 to the problem "Release not saving to "Live"" in PitchEngine:
If you are still having this problem after logging out, logging back in, refreshing the editor page, etc. please email me (ds at pitchengine dot com) or tweet at me (@ds) and let me know what the number of the release(s) you want live is/are.
The number of your release can be found at the end of your release's URL (it should be four or five digits. ex.: http://pitch.pe/8831 )
I can make them live by hand in our database.
We are still trying to sort out why some people are having this issue, while most people aren't. I've tested in nearly every combination of browser/operating system I can come up with and don't run into the issue myself.
So rest assured, I *am* working on solving this for the long haul. Just a little inconvenient for a bit until the new software gets the kinks out!
