Can't it be an intelligent system where Sandy first determines whether the query response is going to be 140 characters or more, and undertake the "number of total results" + narrowing down only if it takes more than 140 characters?

For instance, currently I can't look up someone's phone number by querying Sandy for his/her name, since Sandy responds by saying "Found 1 match: <name>" instead of providing me with the full entry (which is less than 140 characters).</name>

This is currently not possible since twitter limits responses to 140 characters, and Sandy doesn't want to spam you with Direct Messages for alot of lookups. Rael is currently investigating a system where her initial response would include the Number of total results and the first one or two, and then allow you to request more results.

This is currently not available yet, tho.

That can't be the whole story because I was not getting responses of any kind from Sandy. No emails (along with no tweets)! I did get a bunch this afternoon as Sandy apparently tried to catch up.

Sandy caught up a little while ago and you should have received your missing digests (and a couple of reminders that were scheduled for the past 30 minutes or so).
