Chris Thomson replied on June 22, 2008 02:28 to the problem "Notifications system sent email with bad link to new follower" in Twitter:
There's two possibilities of what happened here:
a) The user changed their Twitter URL between the time the email was sent to you (the time they followed you) and the time you clicked the link
b) It was a different user that has since been deleted either because they chose to delete their account or because they were removed by Twitter for being a spammer, etc.
Mark Whybird reported a problem in Twitter on April 24, 2008 04:51:
Notifications system sent email with bad link to new followerThe notifications system sent me the following email:

Hi, whybird.

You may follow kenlewis as well by clicking on the "follow" button.
Best,

The link to the new follower does not work. The correct link (as seen in my actual followers list) is http://twitter.com/kenbrief . The follower's username is kenbrief, and real name is kenlewis.
