Often content providers want to restrict who gets to see what content so as to make the most money off it. I don't know if the groups you're referring to are like this. If they don't allow their content to be downloaded or viewed through the web-browser, then you won't be able to access that content with Miro.
If it's the case you can't access it with Miro, you should send them a letter and tell them how it sucks that you can't access their content with open standards and free software.
Will Kahn-Greene replied on November 16, 2009 15:38 to the question "how to download youtube video?" in Participatory Culture Foundation (Miro):
Lenord: There are a variety of ways you can download YouTube videos with Miro.
1. You can do a "video search" for videos on the YouTube site and then click on the "download" button to download them.
2. You can subscribe to a feed that has videos from YouTube in it. After subscribing to the feed, you click on the "download" button to download them.
3. You can download videos directly from the Miro Guide.
4. You can add YouTube as a site and browse the site. Miro will notice when you're viewing video pages and let you download the video.

Click on the feed in question. In the upper right hand corner to the right of the feed title is a search box. Type something into the search box that correctly filters the videos in the feed down to the ones you want. It can be something in the item name, item description, filename, ...
Click on the "save search" button. That saves the search as a new feed in your sidebar.
You can delete the original feed after that.
Hope that helps!

You don't have to install it. Click on the "Don't install" button.
We bundle the ask.com toolbar in order to raise money for continued development and maintenance of Miro. If more people donated to PCF to fund the project, then we would be able to ditch the ask.com toolbar.
If you'd like to donate, there are a couple of ways you could do that:
1. Adopting a line of code: https://getmiro.com/adopt/
2. Donating directly: https://www.miroguide.com/donate
PCF is a 501(c)(3) corporation, so all donations are tax-deductible.

This is unrelated to this issue. We're tracking this issue in bug 12101:
http://bugzilla.pculture.org/show_bug...
We're working on Miro 2.5.4 and we just pushed out a release candidate which has code to alleviate this issue. If you want to try it out and give us feedback, that would be really helpful. You download the release candidate here:

If you try it out, please comment in bug 12101 about whether it worked or didn't work. – Will Kahn-Greene, on November 12, 2009 17:35

All of those feeds work fine for me in Miro on Ubuntu Karmic.

I don't think there is a FAQ. A few months ago, I started working on a Miro user manual, but it's been hard to find the time to finish it up:
