This appears to have worked for me.

I have the same problem, started after latest FF upgrade, 3.5.3. Messed up FF and IE really bad on three machines. Have created three new accounts, recreated Favorites in FF and IE three times from backup. Had to use Unlocker to get rid of all the IE Favorites. Trying the latest Xmarks upgrade I found on this sit, http://tinyurl.com/qsgw2f . See what happens. Just forced an Upload from FF to Xmarks.

Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

So far so good, all is working now. The upgrade for Xmarks to 3.3.4 appears to be working. I uninstalled Xmarks IE and reinstalled then forced a download, it worked. Going to force downloads to my other machines after upgrading Xmarks on them.

Had this problem all weekend, but easy fix to clean out those pesky IE files found today. Unlocker is the solution! http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ and its free.
