Ok, I got the messages to stop by deleting my phone from twitter and repeatedly replying to the "Hi Please confirm..." messages with stop. Took about 3 "stops" but it finally stopped.

Now I can't get my phone set up again. I keep sending the 6-letter code to 40404 and I get no response.

Do you think this solves the problem? Mark it as solved

Cannot Stop Receiving System Messages from Twitter
My phone is getting system messages from Twitter every 60 seconds. I tried following "twitter_status" and began getting a message every minute that said "You are now following twitter_status..." I got frustrated after receiving 30+ notifications so I turned off mobile notifications. This didn't help, so I went on the website and deleted my device. Now the "you are now following" messages stopped, but I'm getting "Hi! Please confirm by replying with your name" over and over instead. I even replied with STOP and it won't stop.

If I didn't have unlimited messaging I'd be extremely pissed right now.
