Ravelry - an online knitting community - has their own forum system that is quite advanced.

The main forum page is similar to what PW would have now if it had multiple boards displayed.

Each thread is similar yet more advanced, powerful and user friendly than ProductWiki's. It is quite simple looking, signatures are disabled for streamlined easy reading.
Replies are done very nicely - they do not simply copy the entire message into the new reply - but rather state what it was a reply to. If you click on this it will expand to display the original message (useful if the original was a page or two earlier etc...). This is really clean. Access to user's profiles and PMs are also easily accessible.
Each post can be voted on, in different ways, but this feature really doesn't have too much use besides community interaction.
Internal links to projects and personal profiles are also easy to use and powerful using a simple coding syntax. [title of person/project] followed by (person/project). Makes it a lot easier than using HTML and URLs.
eg/ [iPhone 3g] (product), [yale] (person)

dispute pro/conMost people just vote down things they feel are factually false, but there is a difference between something you don't think is a pro/con and something you don't think is factually correct. This might complicate things too much, but it's nice to see a 'disputed' warning on things. This way things that are voted factually false can also be removed automatically - an idea I thought might work for things that were massively voted downward.

compress and prioritize importance of recent changesThis is several ideas about the recent changes that will make recent changes look less like fluff or spam and more like real, positive changes to the site.
Votes and other completely passive 'click based' actions should be played down. Maybe compressed more, smaller, and lighter font (not too light of course, but it should not be as prominent).
Important changes and additions such as new pros/cons, comments, etc... should be bold and darker, stand out more.
Overall the recent changes site must be compressed. It is much too drawn out and unimportant. For example:
Votes should be compressed under the voted product, not each product that was voted against. Eg/ image of ER4P only, and a list of the lesser products:
"Chose Etymotic ER4P over Jays q-JAYS, Sennheiser IE7, Sennheiser IE8 etc".
If not at least make them compressed lines:
"Chose Etymotic ER4P over Jays q-JAYS
Chose Etymotic ER4P over Sennheiser IE 7"

date pickeradding a pop down calender date picker might eliminate some of the issues people encounter with date bugs/format issues. Eases product entry.

I can see this being an addition sometime far down the line - emphasis on far. It would be a simple summary of the company - much like a product entry: what sort of products they provide, what type of consumer they cater to etc etc. People could discuss their experiences with the company (several products, customer support... etc etc...) and different product launches would show up on this portion of the site. It would be the main hub for these big companies everyone just loves to be a fanboy of.

This is really tough... I think a layering of the interface would give power users the tools they want and site browsers the simplicity they desire. I think this should be a feature implemented when the community is much stronger and the community features / user interfaces are really built up. Until then it really isn't a huge issue. Sort of vague in many ways but I hope you guys see where I'm coming from.

Yeah, it's really weird! Your guess is really as good as mine. Really, the people we get on the site - I'm assuming that they think it's cool, and are simply having fun playing with the buttons. Sometimes they change their mind, or, when the site was slower they hit it twice - accidentally disabling it, and then they hit it a third time to re-enable it.-

location of articles and discussionRight now articles and discussions are placed in the details tab. I think these will fit in and have more exposure in the community tab.

For a while I felt this way as well - but the forum created by ProductWiki is actually highly integrated into product pages and quite powerful. It's simplicity is not a bad thing - to me it makes the site a lot more attractive / less annoying. That said a few additions can be made, like the ability for administrators to delete posts :P-

"Type your pro here"People keep hitting submit accidentally, some people don't clean up the mess that ensues - disable the button until something is typed in?

want/love/have messagesThese messages are often repeated many times as users play with the buttons or change their minds. They should never be seen in the same update because clog up recent changes like mad - if users change their minds these messages should disappear.

Broken price rangesprice range algorithm needs to be updated - for example: P&S cameras has 400+ in less than $310. Other categories have 161, 60, 21 and 8

Daisy Diff constantly crashingReload usually fixes this problem. Is this still being used in history?
