Possibly... but it depends on the venue. In an interactive webmap, that would be great, but if one is creating a map for print or static presentation it might make it too busy. But yes, the ability to add GeoTiffs, etc... might be a cool addition. – yale.map.ninja, on October 08, 2009 19:14

Actually, what I had hoped for was a way to create a static snapshot for PPT or Word, say a .png or .jpg. Also, in the Map View page, when I open the details I'm not seeing any way to share. If I go to the My Maps page and click on Details from there, I only get embeddable code. Yes, being able so quickly share in many venues would be great.

Very nice service so far, though. I just sat down with a group of China Scholars and showed them how to create a KML file in GE and bring it into Finder, then create a map in Maker. Their comment was that the modern features detract from their interest in using the app, since they are interested in 2nd century China.
