Brightkite 2.0: Web: Odd error message is appearing from “People” searches done while not signed inDate: 11/04/09
Description:
This is strange. On Brightkite web today, I got this bizarre error message five times in a row after I did a “People” search while not signed in.
I ran a people search of a word, followed by a single press of the space bar. An error message kept appearing.
I got this several times. Then I went back, tried it again, with both “Places” and “Posts”, and I did not get it to repro.
Went back, tried it one last time, and it happened again.
Repro Steps:
1. (log out of account – clear cache, etc.) Navigate to www.brightkite.com
2. From the Brightkite.com home page, move mouse to the input box in upper right
3. Select “People” from the drop down list
4. Click inside of the box
5. Enter in any name
6. REQURIED: Enter a single press of the <spacebar> button after entering name, press <enter>
Result: While not signed into an account, if the user enters in text – followed by a press of the <spacebar> button – on the home page, an odd error message occasionally appears
Expected: No odd error message after "People" searches while not signed in
NOTE: This is the text of the error message:

Brightkite 2.0: iPhone application: Easy way to crash the iPhone applicationDate: 11/04/09
Brightkite iPhone Version: 2.1
Description:
NOTE: Just look at attached screenshots.
This one is easier shown via screenshots than described, but there is a 100 percent way to crash the Brightkite v. 2.1 iPhone application. This might have started with the arrival of the booze advertisements.
Immediately after launching the Brightkite v. 2.1 on the iPhone, the user is taken to a screen where their profile picture will appear in the upper left hand corner of the screen. If the user presses the profile picture icon (before it has loaded) the user will be taken to a screen which refers to the user as “(null)”.
If the user exits from this screen, the application crashes.
Repro Steps:
1. From the iPhone home menu, launch Brightkite Version 2.1
2. As application is loading, quickly press the area where your profile picture is to appear
3. Let it sit on screen with “(null)’s stream” present
4. Press the “Home” button
Result: The Brightkite iPhone application (version 2.1) will crash if the user selects the profile picture area before the user’s picture has loaded, and then allows the application to sit on a screen with “(null)’s stream” present
Expected: No crash
Repro rate: 5/5 (on this iPhone, at least)
