Hi there,

Each TypePad Account is allotted one subdomain:

[subdomain].typepad.com

All blogs that you create will be off of that main URL. For example:

http://example.typepad.com/blog1
http://example.typepad.com/my_weblog
http://example.typepad.com/random

If you'd like a different or additional subdomain, you would need to open another account.

Alternately, you might want to look into Domain Mapping, which would allow you to give each blog its own unique URL:
http://help.sixapart.com/tp/us/domain...

The update on the status blog, which we just updated, was related only to about a 5 minute period just now. It didn't affect any blogs this morning.

When I attempted to view your domain mapping setup, I received the following message:

;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached

You should contact your current registrar or host regarding this error.

Until it is corrected with your registrar/host, you'll need to deactivate the domain and republish your blog.

Hi,

Changing the display of the Post Title and Blog Title in the option you show does not change the URL of the post, so you won't have any broken links. It will only change the order of the text in the title tag for your pages.

The format of the post URL has always been as it is now
http://www.takerootandwrite.com/2009/...

with the blog URL, followed by the year, month, and then the title or assigned permalink. There isn't a way to change this format, but it will always be consistent across your archives.

Adify makes several banner ads that are suitable for the footer area. In your Adify account, create a new space and choose the leaderboard option. You can then copy this code into the Footer area using the Custom HTML option.

Hi Katie,

Once your CNAME is set and you see the TypePad favicon when you view the URL, you can set the domain mapping to Active under Control Panel > Site Access > Domain Mapping.

This changed with our recent migration and is different from the old behavior of being able to see the weblog at the domain name before setting it to active, and we are working to better document this behavior.

TypePad Support received the following question in the ticket queue, and we thought this would be a great discussion topic.

Hi,

I'm trying to make a technical point at work about the pros and cons of the TypeList object. One assumption I've made is that the TypeLists are implemented as linked lists, and that Six Apart went with this implementation method instead of a sortable array to keep its growth rate linear rather than exponential. Accurate?
