    mazefinger nearly unplayable on 1G ipod touch
    The last 3 updates or so for Mazefinger have caused the game to perform really bad on my 1G iPod touch. I'm surprised this hasn't been reported (if it has, I couldn't find anything, except my own post from a few months ago) because it's hardly playable anymore. I know for a fact that the updates have caused these problems, because the first version i got from the App Store worked perfectly. My iPod is not jailbroken.

    Please don't recommend getting a newer iPod touch model, it's not an option for me right now.

    I downloaded the 1.3 update for Mazefinger today and I immediately noticed the game started stuttering a lot, something that never happened before. I tried restarting and it didn't get any better, uninstalling and reinstalling did nothing either. It's specially bad when I first start dragging my finger - it freezes for about half a second and after that it's very laggy and not nearly as smooth as it used to be. I'm using a 1G iPod touch.

    There is in fact an obvious performance boost on my iPod touch (1st gen.) and the game feels smoother than before, but I still lose combos due to lag, and the only way I can avoid that is by not holding the hold notes. Turning off Wi-Fi (all the other stuff I can possibly turn off are off already as I don't use those) and restarting works for only one or two songs.

    First of all, TTR2 is looking amazing. I really do appreaciate all the work and effort that goes into it, but I just have to ask - have you guys (at Tapulous) EVER tried it on a first generation iPod touch? Because it's nowhere near as smooth as the preview video made me hope, and playing Extreme songs is just as frustrating as it was with TTR1.

    Don't get me wrong, I do see improvements, but I'm sure you guys know that the 1st generation iPod touch has the slowest processor compared to the 2nd gen. iPod touch and the iPhones and you just can't expect TTR2 to run smoothly on all these devices without some kind of device-specific optimization.

    Of course, TTR2 was just released so there's time to make improvements, I just really hope this can be addressed soon.

    What? I never said I wanted this because it'd make the game easier, that's what you assumed. You also assumed I suck at the game - maybe I do, but you don't know that. And this is probably off-topic, but I had a SNES during the 90s and I'd say that they made the best games back then, and they didn't need to be flashy or pseudo-3D.

    Actually, what I thought was this: when I posted this idea (4 months ago), TTR stuttered quite a lot on my iPod touch (first generation), to the point that it failed to register combos longer than 10 taps in busy sections of Extreme songs (for example, the song Cliche). I thought that, if there was no perspective on the notes, then the game wouldn't have to worry about resizing the notes as they approach and would perform better. I meant to add that to my original idea, but since nobody seemed to even notice the post (until recently), I didn't bother.

    TTR has since received a few updates addressing performance, and while I still avoid playing Extreme songs (I know I'm hitting most notes on time but the game apparently still can't keep up with me or the songs), the game feels a lot smoother than before.

    I'm guessing the game will perform a lot better when it's updated to use the Tap Tap Dance engine, but I still think it'd be useful to have the option I suggested, or correct 3D perspective (which was the original, main suggestion I had - this is not very obvious, apparently).

    I think it'd be nice if the perspective of the approaching beats was correct. I don't mean 'real 3D', just make the movement of the beats and arrows resemble the movement from 'far away' to 'closer' better. Right now the beats travel to the bottom of the screen at a constant speed, which would be different if the perspective was correct (they should move slower when they're 'far', and faster when they're 'near'). Or maybe an option to play the game in a 'no perspective' mode, I think that'd be great.

    Just to make sure I get my point across: 'no perspective' would look like this

    I hope more people like this idea, I always enjoyed having that option in games like Dance Dance Revolution or In The Groove.

    Sorry to do this (bumping), but I'd really like to know how it works, specially now since I've noticed that tapping a bit sooner that I would just by following the song's beat usually results in better scoring.

    I'm guessing that, if the game doesn't do this already, it shouldn't be too difficult to correct the timing, assuming of course the delay I'm talking about is the same for each registered tap.

    Using the touch screen for a while and navigating through menus in the iPod touch, I've noticed that the response to gestures and taps, although fast, is not immediate, and the delay is noticeable (especially when, for example, you move your finger vertically in a playlist in the music player: the list scrolls at the same speed you move your finger, but with a small delay). I was wondering, does the game take this into account when judging how accurate each tap is?
