Zarjay asked a question in Disqus on October 04, 2009 20:07:
How do I fix the color on the Disqus login screen? How do I fix the color on the Disqus login screen?
This is what the Disqus 'Login or Register" dialog on my website looks like:
The label text for the username and password input fields are barely visible. I'm assuming what's going on is the login dialog is inheriting the color from my blog's stylesheet. I've tried adding custom CSS to Disqus, adding custom CSS to my stylesheet, and even using the "!important" attribute in both cases, but I have yet been able to figure out how to override the color.
I'm assuming this is an easy fix; does anyone have any suggestions?
Info:
- I'm using the Disqus WordPress Plugin.
- My WordPress theme declares a body color, which the Disqus login screen is inheriting.
- I tried overriding #label-login-username and using !important, but that didn't work.

Hmm. I didn't realize it, but it does the same thing for the other Shareaholic icons as well, even the one in the context menu. The Shareaholic Options screen shows all buttons as unchecked, about:config shows them all as disabled, and yet when I open a new window, all of them are displayed.
I'll have to try creating a fresh Firefox profile later; I'll get back to you on that.

A comment on the problem "Shareaholic Buzz in status bar doesn't stay removed." in Shareaholic:
Hi Jay,
I restarted my computer, reenabled Shareaholic, and looked at extensions.shareaholic.statusbarbuzz.enable in Firefox's about:config. It's set to false. When I toggle it to true and then false again, the Buzz icon is removed, but when I open a new window, the Buzz icon reappears. However, extensions.shareaholic.statusbarbuzz.enable is still false. So it looks like Firefox is storing the preference properly, even though the Buzz icon reappears on a new window. – Zarjay, on July 09, 2009 18:45
Zarjay reported a problem in Shareaholic on July 09, 2009 14:52:
Shareaholic Buzz in status bar doesn't stay removed.Shareaholic now has this "Buzz" icon that displays on the status bar. There's an option to remove it on the "Appearance" tab of the Shareaholic options screen. However, after I remove it, the Buzz icon reappears every time I open a new window!
I'm using Firefox 3.5. I'm disabling Shareaholic for now until there's a way to remove the Buzz icon permanently. My status bar is cluttered enough already.

Remember the Milk bot isn't following me; I need a cache clear!I'm trying to get Remember the Milk for Twitter to work. I'm following the rtm bot, but it's not following me back. Remember the Milk's support page suggests that this is a caching issue on Twitter's side. So, can someone clear the cache on my account?-

Zarjay gave praise in OtherInbox on March 16, 2009 05:32:
The new shorter oib.com domain name is awesome!I've been moderately using otherinbox.com ever since it came out, but I was always slightly disappointment at the long email addresses I'd have to write. I was able to get a two-character subdomain, but the resulting email addresses are still very long. "otherinbox" also doesn't have a nice ring to it in terms of being an email address. It automatically has the connotation of being "the other inbox" instead of being THE inbox.
Tonight, I just discovered I can now use oib.com as my email address, and now it's short and awesome!
I love it. It's short and sweet, and now I can see myself using my otherinbox account more often because the email addresses are shorter and easier to use. And "oib" doesn't portray any particular connotation as to what kind of email account it is, other than that "oib" sounds strange but in a cool way.
Thanks, OtherInbox, you guys are awesome. I'm definitely going to be using OtherInbox more now, and you guys have made me one extremely happy user.

A comment on the idea "Backspace to go Back" in Songbird:
IE, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari all use backspace for navigation on Windows. If Songbird wants to have a browser in it, then the Windows version should have the same functionality as the other browsers, for consistency. – Zarjay, on January 11, 2009 20:04
Jim's reply to "How are Songbird and Qtrax related?" was just promoted to the most useful! Zarjay and 6 other people think it's one of the best replies.
Glad you asked. :) Songbird (our company name is POTI, Inc.) makes a desktop media player called the Songbird Player. Qtrax licensed the Songbird Player, added the Qtrax brand, changed the look, and then integrated the Qtrax advertising supported music download service. If you speak geek, Songbird is a software platform providing open API's to allow seamless integration of devices and services into a desktop media player using markup, Javascript, CSS and other Web developer tools.
Songbird doesn't own or operate the Qtrax music service, and we're sorry to report that we can't fix your problems. If you have issues with the Qtrax service or the Qtrax player, you'll need to chat with Qtrax.

Looks like Bugs 11879 and 13320 already sum up my request. Those feature requests should probably be merged together, if Bugzilla supports that functionality.
Although, on another note, I just realized that in Songbird, you can click on the song title of the song that's currently playing, and it'll automatically select the song in your library. Sweet, one feature down, two more to go. :)

Sure thing!
Two features in iTunes that I would like to see in Songbird:
- iTunes maintains a folder hierarchy. When I add a new song, the song is added to the library in Artist Name/Album Name/Track Number Song Name.mp3.
- iTunes updates the folder hierarchy if the metadata is updated. So if I rename a song or artist name, iTunes will rename the song file or move it to the folder with the new artist name.
However, every once in a while, iTunes loses my songs (either deletes them or loses the reference to them). If Songbird could place my songs in an organized folder hierarchy like that (and not occasionally delete my songs like iTunes does), that would be awesome!
I'll go ahead and log it as a feature request in Bugzilla as well. ^_^

Thanks for making Songbird. Keep up the good work!I've been using iTunes for a few years, but lately I've been having so many problems with it that it's made me want to look for another music player:
- It updates WAY too much, and Apple forces users to download Quicktime/iTunes together. It's such a hassle, and it wants to force me to use iTunes whether I want to or not!
- I like having my music auto-organized into proper folders, but every once in a while (especially after an update), iTunes loses a chunk of my songs!
- It's shuffle feature really sucks. 4000+ songs, and I end up hearing the same song several times within a few hours.
Enter Songbird.
- No obsessive updates, and I'm not forced to download any other software with it.
- Way better shuffling support
- Hasn't lost any of my songs (at least not yet ,heh)
I still use iTunes every once in a while (mainly for its auto-organization features), but I'm slowly replacing it with Songbird.
My favorite part about Songbird is being able to customize it the way I want with addons and "feathers." Exorcist lets me remove all broken tracks from the library. With iTunes, I have to remove them one by one! LyricMaster automatically finds for me the lyrics to the currently playing song, which is a sweet feature. There are lots of addons for getting album art, and best of all, there's support for Last.fm. I love how the rating and Last.fm controls are built into the Now Playing bar, and the iTunes-esque interface and features is making it really easy to switch.
If Songbird adds these features, I'll make the full switch and say goodbye to iTunes:
- auto-organizing music folders
- Selecting the currently playing song (i.e., CTRL+L in iTunes)
- Opening the folder os a selected song (i.e., CTRL+R in iTunes)
Keep up the good work you guys!
