This issue is related to the BlackPing code itself. Where did you download BlackPing from and which version do you have?
The correct URL is: http://schwenkconsulting.com/bp/. Be sure to download version 0.0.4.

As far as I know OS 4.7.0.114 hasn't been officially released yet, so I have no way of reproducing your issue.
In the mean time, below are the official instructions for setting up BlackPing.
1. Exit completely out of BlackPing.
2. Open BlackPing.
3. Once the "Gathering data..." screen loads, wait for an error to come back.
4. Once the error comes, go to the preferences screen.
5. Click the "Menu" button and select "Clear Field"
5.1 This step isn't applicable for versions 0.0.3 and above.
6. Enter your Mobile Key.
6.1 If you're running a version prior to 0.0.3, then you must enter your key into the area of the screen that was occupied before.
7. Click the "Escape" key
8. Click the "Save" button.
9.Wait.
9.1. You'll encounter a message letting you know whether or not the key was validated and saved.
9.2. If the key was saved and validated, more on to the next step. If not, try again.
10. If you're using BlackPing v0.0.3 you'll be brought back to the splash screen and your data will be loaded. Then the "Ping" screen will load.
10.1 If you're using a version prior to v0.0.3 you'll have to re-start the application.
zechariahs replied on March 30, 2009 01:35 to the problem "Shortcuts (@tt,...) not working" in Schwenk Consulting:
There is a fixed version available at http://www.pingfire.us. Download version 1.0.2.
In order to use shortcuts (@XX) you'll need to select it from the drop-down list. The list includes only those services you're registered for. So if you're registered for Twitter and Facebook, you will not see a shortcut for Identi.ca.
Note - The update will not be available via the Mozilla Add-On site until I do some behind the scenes code updates so that PingFire follows their best practices.

I created one: http://www.blackping.com. It's still in the beta stage, but it seems to work with most devices.

This is a problem for more than one person, so here are some details on how to work around it. I'll work to make this cleared in a future version.
- Exit completely out of BlackPing.
- Open BlackPing.
- Once the "Gathering data..." screen loads, wait for an error to come back.
- Once the error comes, go to the preferences screen.
- Click the "Menu" button and select "Clear Field"

- Click the "Save" button.

Ping Fire v 1.0.2 has been releasedPing Fire v 1.0.2 has been released. It adds TinyURL support as wells as support for special (aka Unicode) characters. This version also makes it more obvious if you haven't entered your Ping.fm Application Key.
Ping Fire v 1.0.2 can be downloaded from http://www.pingfire.us

Nope, you're correct, it doesn't work. I wonder if Ping changed something in the API since I know it used to work. Thanks for your post. – zechariahs, on February 23, 2009 21:26

Actually, you are able to type "@tt" into the "Message" field and it will only send the message to Twitter, @fb will send it only to Facebook, and so on. Or is there something I'm not understanding? – zechariahs, on February 23, 2009 21:20
