For a quick update, after about thirty minutes of running the System Update Readiness Tool, it said that it had finished installation without the progress bar moving whatsoever or it showing any progress in the "Installation status" text. I then restarted my computer and attempted to check for updates, yet it did not work.

Alright, I know that I have not replied for a very long time, but this is REALLY starting to bug me. Several different programs that I attempt to install, including several games (such as FreeOrion), things that could possibly fix a problem like this (.NET Framework 3.5, C++ Redistributable Package 2008, System Update Readiness Tool) can not install either. I believe the same problem lies at the core of all of these problems.
I fit three out of four symptoms on the WebLog, which are 1, 3, and 4. However, with number three, the windows update error is 8000FFFF. Windows Update has not been able to install updates for about six months now, either. Also, somebody suggested that deleting the pending.xml file of Windows Update would fix the problem since Windows Update may not allow programs to access other system processes that it requires to install these "pending" updates (or something along those lines). I tried to locate pending.xml, yet could not find it in any of the suggested places.
This is really getting to me, and I want to be able to run Photosynth and other programs that are affected by this... Please help!
Note: The attached picture is of the palce at which the System Update Readiness Tool for 32-bit based systems stops. It doesn't freeze, it just won't install any further.
