Authentication error
I downloaded PictureSync from a Webshots ad. PictureSync installed fine but will not authenticate with my webshots account info. I have verified account info is valid.

Webshots have now acknowledged my report of the ongoing erratic issue that affects some if not all users, but as yet there has been no acknowledgement from them if the issue actually exists at their end, the cause, or if/when it can be resolved.
You may wish to take up this issue and/or Mac support in general with them directly. (I should add that this issue is not Mac specific, PictureSync for Windows is also affected.)
I am however doubtful it will get fixed any time soon, given how it is erratic, and from brief observation appears to vary according to a user's network location (i.e. internet access provider), so I suspect they'll have trouble isolating it, as indeed I would too. As it did work just fine and nothing changed in PictureSync, and also no changes to the Webshots API have been notified, I don't expect it to be possible to resolve the issue simply in PictureSync's Webshots plugin itself either.
For now I suggest signing up with Pixelpipe, add your Webshots account there, then add your Pixelpipe account to PictureSync (disabling your Webshots account in PictureSync) and your uploads will be proxied through Pixelpipe's servers梬hich are currently reliably connecting to Webshots. (You could also use any other Pixelpipe upload method as well as or instead of PictureSync.)

Inappropriate?Webshots' servers appear to be randomly reporting invalid errors to PictureSync for some reason that has yet to be identified. Hopefully this will be rectified by them soon.
In the mean time when adding the account simply try again, and it will work within an attempt or two. Likewise when attempting to upload, click onto your desktop then back to PictureSync's window to force it to try connecting again. Some uploads may also fail, but uploading again will retry them. -
Inappropriate?I downloaded PS from this site... it gives a remote non response error when I attempt to enter my email and password... I have continued retry for 8 hours, and my FotoTime account is working fine... I notice as set of keys icon in the upper right hand corner of the details panel...
I had PRO on my recently FRIED OSX 10.5.6 Hard drive... all of my account info was there and not backed up how can I reconnect with that account... anyway, any help would be appreciated. ~JTCoyote -
Thanks for reporting this. A fix has been issued, please choose Check for Updates from the Help menu in PictureSync. (Note: This issue was specific to FotoTime on 10.5.6 and is unrelated to Webshots). -
Inappropriate?Jacob,
I am on the Picture sync home page now and can find no help menu... please advise.

Inappropriate?Ok...I see... I went directly into the program, clicked help on the tool bar on the top of the screen, and there it was... the program is now working just fine... thank you.

Inappropriate?I just downloaded PictureSync and installed it on my MacBook Pro. It looks like a great app and I'm probably going to love it. Unfortunately PictureSync won't authenticate my Webshots account. I've repeated the process over and over as suggested above but no go. I've logged out of Webshots and tried again... but no. I've quit and opened PictureSync several times... still won't authenticate. I've changed my Webshots password to be certain I'm using the same one for Webshots and PictureSync, all to no avail.
It sure would be nice to actually use PictureSync to upload but it seems unlikely. Is it possible that Webshots changed their login API and didn't publish or advertise the change to developers? -

Inappropriate? It does appear that something on their end has changed but unfortunately I was never notified about it. Currently their API has ceased working with PictureSync completely, hopefully I'll hear back from them shortly as to what's happened so that any issues can be resolved.

Inappropriate?so jacob have you hear anything as of yet? as to why the program still won't authenticate...
