Google Analytics Error in Ego 1.2
In Ego 1.2 I get an eternal throbber when refreshing my Google Analytics, or an Error message. This might be a problem with the analytics server, but my other Google Analytics app works fine.

Updating this to "working on it" until Apple approves 1.3. So there's no confusion.

This is fixed in version 1.3, submitting to Apple tonight!

Update: Google refuses to unblock the IP. However, we're just about ready to submit an app update that will fix this problem for good. Please bear with us just a little longer!

Inappropriate?Hi there. Our server host was doing maintenance (unplanned) today and GA services were slow for a while and timing out in the app. Hopefully they should be back up to speed now.
-
It's still throbbing for a while for me, and when it finally finishes refreshing, all my stats say 0. My other analytics app still works fine. -
Inappropriate?I still have this problem with 1.2 even though you've marked it as solved. Yesterday my Google Analytics widgets would throb forever and then say zero visits. Today they all say Error. This wasn't the case the day before yesterday.
-
Same for me. It wasn't doing this until 1.2 was released. -
Inappropriate? So, unfortunately, coincidentally after this problem was solved Google blocked requests for report XML data. We're currently working to restore GA widget data. Please bear with us.
-
Inappropriate?Awesome. Is this action on Google's part specific to Ego or is it universal?
I’m annoyed at Google.
-
It seems like Garrett implies that Google is blocking all XML data requests. I'm not sure how my other analytics app gets its data, but it's still working fine. -
Inappropriate?I wasn't implying they've blocked all XML data, no. Most Analytics apps use screen scraping to get their data, which is extremely brittle and can break at any time. We use the data export XML API, which doesn't require scraping.
However, Google has blocked Ego's server endpoint because of the number of requests. We are working to get Google to unblock the endpoint and hope to have this problem solved very soon.
Thanks for your patience. -
Patience is a virtue, unless you're a doctor; then it's a source of revenue. :P -
Inappropriate?oh. this does not sound good. hopefully google will open it for Ego again.
-
That's odd, my iPhone still shows zero for all of my sites. -
Inappropriate?I can report that it worked once. Then reverted to 0 (null connection?) for the next connection. So blocking may still be in effect
-
Same for me. It was working last night, but now it's reverting to 0 again. -
Inappropriate?I think we've established by now that everyone is having this problem, therefore the only comments that will actually contribute the the resolution of this issue are stories of success.
-
Inappropriate?ok getting same result in Feedburner as well. Feedburner is of course also a Google product... so not unexpected.
Garret any way of getting Google to reopen api endpoints?
Can't imagine there is _that_ much traffic from this.
Plus this is a service useful to their users...
I’m frustrated
-
yes, I'm getting errors with feedburner now too, but I thought ego didn't get feedburner info from XML, but from some other source. -
This isn't related. Google has been having issues with Feedburner data in the past two weeks, they claim they have fixed this bug and it's propagating now. Hopefully it will come back momentarily. -
And I do get the FB stats from XML via the Awareness API. It's just responding with 0s for everyone for the current day. It's a bug on Google's end. (I'm frustrated too!) -
Like Tim said above, "I think we've established by now that everyone is having this problem, therefore the only comments that will actually contribute the the resolution of this issue are stories of success." -
Apologies. What you say makes perfect sense. -
Inappropriate?Simply clicking the yellow "I have this problem, too!" button in the big red box above is enough to let the developer know that you are also having this problem. There is no need to leave a comment/post for every person. It makes much more difficult for the developer to ascertain which posts actually contain useful bug information and/or solutions.
-
Inappropriate?FeedBurner is working for me again.
-
Yes, FB has resolved the issues on their side. *Whew*. -
Inappropriate?Update: Google refuses to unblock the IP. However, we're just about ready to submit an app update that will fix this problem for good. Please bear with us just a little longer!

Inappropriate?Analytics is now working for me, before the update.
-
aaanndd.. it's gone again. -
I think I'll just wait for the update. -
yes, that would be the logical thing to do, since you can't really do anything about it until then. and no, I'm never sarcastic. -
Inappropriate?Updating this to "working on it" until Apple approves 1.3. So there's no confusion.

guess that will answer my question re:iPhone approval process timelines. 6 days so far... -
Inappropriate?I just got the update, and it works great. Thanks for your help, Garrett.
I’m happy happy happy

Inappropriate?Umm, hmm. I updated to v1.3, but I still get 'Error' for all of my Google Analytics widgets.

Try re-entering your analytics account info. I've also had issues lately with apps not updating properly, so check the version number of the app too. -
I actually did both of those things already. It says Ego 1.3, and reentering the Google Analytics account info and recreating the widgets doesn't change anything. -
it works fine for me. are you sure your account info is correct? -
Yes. It gives me the list of sites to choose from when adding the widget (so the login info must be correct), but I can't get any data. It just says 'Error.'
