micro-blogging vs status updates -- what's the dif?

Define terms: what's the difference, in Ping-speak, between "micro-blogging" and "status updates"? Is there an actual functional difference, or are they just two labels that allow the user to differentiate between two categories of services? I only use twitter and identi.ca (so far) -- does it matter whether my pings to them are called micro-blogging or status updates?

Thanks for quickly supporting Identi.ca. I registered there with my OpenID, but Ping couldn't authenticate. Any thoughts?

Hi there,
it's great that you're supporting identi.ca already - I just have a couple of suggestions:

- if a user signs up at identi.ca using OpenID, they will not have a password, so will not be able to authenticate at ping.fm, meaning ping.fm can't be used to post to identi.ca in these cases. Is there some way you can authenticate an identi.ca user using the OpenID they used to sign up there?

- identi.ca runs on the "laconi.ca" OS software, meaning anyone can install their own servers, and federate with identi.ca and other laconica servers. If would be great if you could provide support for "generic" laconi.ca servers, where a user specifies their profile URL (e.g. I would like to enter "http://menti.name/laconica/mario", which would then enable me to post to my own laconica instance from ping.fm).

I know there's a similar topic regarding this issue. But as it's more than a month old, I thought I'd start another.

Cannot seem to add Plaxo. Have verified password, etc.

EDIT: Seems like Bebo can't be added either. Not sure if these are related issues (as Bebo is running incredibly slowly for me at the moment) or not. Thought I'd mention it, though.

I run an identi.ca clone - waka.me and would like users to be able to post to it via ping.fm. Laconica supports a subset of the Twitter API and would be easy to integrate.

hey, am trying to push updates to my identi.ca account, but i use openid to sign into that one. So i'm confused about what I give to Ping.fm for my userid/pswd for identi.ca... any suggestions?

I'd like to be able to reply to specific twitter (or identica) messages. When I use the web interface to read tweets from my tweeps, I can click "reply" and respond to that specific, particular message. I'd like to be able to do that using Ping.fm -- is there a way?

I'm guessing not -- at least not until Ping is acting like a reader as well as a writer? Or not unless/until there is some kind of Ping plugin that would add a "reply with Ping" option to some other service's client...right?

There's a new micro-blogging service called Identi.ca that I just signed up. I wanna be able to post to it using Ping.fm. You guys should make this possible.
