Developer API keys, are they supposed to stay secret?
If I want to release a script that adds Ping.fm support to the irssi IRC client, will every end-user need to request a seperate developer key?

Inappropriate? We plan on making a management section for the api key that allows you to display the application name, website, etc, so that when a user posts over it, they can see your details.
If you want to be the "owner" of the script, you can leave the api key in there. If another developer leaves your api key in there and uses it, anyone using their app would still see your information details. If the developer wants to request their own api key, they can become the owner of their own version of your code with their own details.
I’m an api key

Inappropriate?Awesome, thanks for the quick reply!
I've updated the application details in the dashboard and will distribute the developer API key in the script for users to use.
I’m thankful

Don't forget to submit your application for approval before you launch. Details are in the API docs.
