Facebook doesn't look right.
When I post to facebook it always looks like "Tim I have spent too much money".
That makes no sense.
Is it possible to change it so it always makes it say "Tim says "I have spent far too much money""

Inappropriate?I'm not opposed to this idea. Lets see if a couple other people would agree before I make the change.

Inappropriate?I like the 'Name says" idea as well.

Inappropriate?Even just a `Username: Update` would be better than then `Username Update`. I was thinking the same thing a moment ago.
I’m heh

Inappropriate? We''re putting some updates in place that will designate more defined rules as far as where status updates go. Currently, the system just posts wherever you have it set to post. Now we will be doing something like @s will update statuses, @b will update blogs and having no trigger will update just your micro blogs.
So you could start doing "@s is typing on Get Satisfaction" and it would update every site you have set up as a status update. There's more to it, and there will be some more information once we push the updates this weekend.
Thanks!

Inappropriate?Still no solution to this one? I think even a simple checkbox under settings that gave you an "auto-add "is" to sites that use it" option, if that's possible, would be wonderful.
-
Inappropriate?I agree with Scott and Tim. Facebook is really not integrated well with Ping.fm, and it's not Ping.fm's fault, it's Facebook's for putting no seperation from the persons name and their status.
Could we please get an 'auto-is' ? or a 'says' or a colon?
You've said you'll think about it but nothing has ever happened. I know you guys are busy and all, but this doesn't seem THAT complicated to do...
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I've actually contacted Facebook about perhaps adding a "lock 'is' in status" checkbox as well, and they have it on the "maybe" list. (An actual person responds when I suggest features there! It's something we should be able to take for granted, but it's still pretty awesome.) May I suggest a race between ping.fm and Facebook to add this feature? Winner gets...I don't know, one of those growing gifts or something. ;)

Inappropriate?I would look at how TwitterSync handles this. They let you control the string yourself.

this solves the problem

Inappropriate?Would love to see ping.fm allowing individual control of the string for each service. Example would be I can control a string to be appended before and after all my facebook pings.
If i was to ping "I am hungry" ... my ping post to facebook would be Wilfred "says : I am hungry".
I’m loving ping.fm
-
Inappropriate?Well, its not ping.fm's problem at all, as if you were to write that same mesage in facebook you'd get the same result. if there was a "says" prefix then you wrote an action as a ping you'd get:
Suchnsuch says "is doing his homework"
Solution: is to have either in the edit section of each network a prefix option
BEST SOLUTION:
a verb detector to prefix 'is' or 'has' and if "not" is 1st word prefix 'is' or 'was'
all other words i guess you could add ' says "' or a predetermined default prefix and a suffix of a quotation mark
EDIT:
Maybe even an advanced verb/sentence detector say you typed "been to the park" been is detected as a past action prefixing "has" present actions will be "is" future actions "will"?
as for when to prefix says... put quotation marks at start and end?
seems most logical to me. -
Inappropriate?I'm with mattindy77. I've used TwitterSync for ages, and I've been very happy with its settings which allow me to change my prepend verb. (I like " twitters: ") Until more robust settings are included in Ping.fm for all services, AND until Facebook gets it together and creates this setting for status updates, can't this idea please be integrated into the current Ping.fm Facebook app?
I signed up to Ping.fm today because I love the idea, and because TwitterSync depends on TwitterIM which has been broken for more than a month. But...if this kind of checkbox-setting-customization idea can't be implemented here, I will go back to the standard Twitter Facebook app (though I'll be very sad).
I’m thinking this is easier to implement than you expect
-
Inappropriate? This has been fixed! Thank you, Ping.fm folks, for adding the "adjust grammar" option. Now my Facebook updates are prefaced with "Kelly said:". Just perfect! Thank you for listening and doing something about this.
I’m content.

Inappropriate? While I'd like to be able to choose the word myself, "says" "tweets" "mumbles" etc. this is a step in the right direction.
I don't think being able to set our own word would be difficult, would it?
