How do I update my Ping via SMS (as described on the front of the Ping website)?
I’m curious since it's advertised!

Inappropriate?I would guess that depends on your cell phone carrier. I am pretty sure that it is an SMS with my current plan.

Inappropriate?You can actually go to your account setting and reset it just incase someone else looking at this page will use your email address.

This is not using SMS is it, this is using email and SMS.

Inappropriate?SMS is just what your cell phone company calls it. You can send e-mail to a cell where it appears as sms, if you have the cell number and the domain for that carrier - for Verizon it is cell_number@vtext.com with other domains for other carriers. The other way works too - cell sms to ###@yahoo.com or whatever, but you still have sms character count limitations.
My question is where exactly does one set up the address part of @ping.fm to make this work? What am I missing? -

I am in the UK, I don't know how this effects SMS and email. -
Inappropriate?To update ping from sms, you have to send the sms to the email address that ping will show you when you are logged in and go to http://ping.fm/email/ - on that page, ping will show you YOUR address for doing this. This is essentially a private e-mail conduit (which you shouldn't give to anyone else) so YOU can send sms to ping.
When I send sms (and in the US this works for most people) I can send to an address such as test@ping.fm - and it goes as though it were a text message being sent to a phone number. Inappropriate?There's also http://dan-lane.livejournal.com/61360..., which is what you're looking for, but if you're in the US, it could get a little expensive, as it involves sending a text to a UK number.
