How does Ping keep from status updates getting into loops?
How does Ping keep from status updates getting into loops? I update via HootSuite, which updates Twitter, which updates Facebook. HootSuite also updates Ping, which updates Twitter & Facebook. And if I update Facebook, that will update Ping (right?), which then starts the cycle over. I do not understand how updates do not get caught in invinite loops.

Inappropriate?Ping.fm does not read in your posts from anywhere, it only sends out. If you use a 3rd party service to submit posts to Ping.fm, it may be possible to get stuck in a loop (it has happened before)
-
Inappropriate?Ok, so only send messages to Ping for redistribution.
Should I stop Twitter from updating Facebook then?
And what about HootSuite? I post there and it updates Twitter & Ping, and Ping updates Twitter? Does that not cause issues? -
Inappropriate? If you have Twitter updating Facebook and Ping.fm updating both, then Facebook could be updated twice (unless Facebook filters it out).
Most 3rd party apps with Ping.fm integration should not cause duplicated posts.
