Is there a way to control which Facebook Pages gets an update?
I have two Facebook Pages in my Facebook account. I've set up Ping.fm to post updates correctly, but it seems that updates are blasted to both Pages. Is there a way to set Ping.fm to see each Facebook Page as a separate network so that I can send a different update to each?

Inappropriate? This is a major limitation for me and I'm not sure if the issue rest with Ping.fm or Facebook.
Facebook only allows us to have one account; anything else is a violation of Terms of Use. I can (and do) manage multiple pages but if I try to send an update via Ping.fm, the update goes to all pages. Since I have a work page, a political group page and a sport club page, it is absurd that the same update goes to all three!
It really seems that someone hasn't thought the Facebook Pages thing all the way out (e.g. a company has to delete and recreate the page -- and thus lose its fans -- if it changes its name).
I’m quite annoyed
-
Inappropriate?Chip describes the issue well. This is a major roadblock in my social media workflow (which Ping.fm is an integral part of!).
I’m annoyed at Facebook
-
Inappropriate? It would be nice if we could define posting groups that not only allowed us to select the "Posting Method" (e.g. Micro-Blogging) and the "social networks" (e.g. "Facebook Pages") but let us select which Facebook Pages would be wonderful.
Is this not in the control of Ping.fm?
-
Inappropriate? If facebook doesn't allow for this, then why does Ping even have the feature to set up 2 fanpages? Why would I ever want the same message to go to all of my fanpages?
I’m frustrated
-
I agree. -
Inappropriate? When setting up Ping, you can select the exact FB pages you want updated... this is easy... try uninstalling completely and then restart the process
-
Inappropriate?@Guy the question is more complex than your answer. People want to be able to post from different Ping accounts to different Fan Pages, at different times. Right now that is not possible. You are correct that you choose which pages you want to post to, but we do not want our messages cross-posted to all Fan Pages all the time. We are looking for a way to choose which Fan Page to post to, when actually making a post through Ping.
I’m happy to contribute my thoughts on the issue.

Agreed! -
Inappropriate?+1 Being able to create Ping groups that send to different Facebook pages would be a great help to us. That is really the only feature that we need here at our organization. We manage 3 facebook pages that sometimes need to recieve specialized messages, and would love the option to administer all via a single Ping profile.
I’m anxious for a solution
-
Inappropriate? This is being planned for a future update.
-
Inappropriate?Any chance of getting an ETA on that feature, since it is kind of critical for so many of us?

Inappropriate? The New Ping Facebook Management system is way better and solves all these issues... you can set up multiple Ping Accounts with Multiple FB Pages and Accounts...
As usual you need to think it through a bit and work out exactly what works best...
Also recommend Hootsuite - it can only have one Ping Account attached to it, but it solves other issues... -
Again, this does not solve the issue. I have 30 diff. corp fan pages that we need to manage. Setting up 30 diff. Ping accounts is just not an option (besides, that would require having 30 diff. email accounts - one for each page you want to manage).
AND you are incorrect re: Hootsuite. You can have more than one Ping.fm account set up under their system (it is actually a very sweet implementation) + you can set up a single Ping account to target different Ping Groups. I don't understand why Ping.fm is restricting the user to one Facebook connection per account or why you do not have the functionality to connect to multiple pages and target a post to them individually.
At this rate, the moment Hootsuite rolls out Facebook Pages support natively (they already have FB personal profiles sorted) I will be dropping Ping.fm completely. -
Inappropriate?Everything you have said is spot on and right and I too will drop Ping if I could... but I would defend myself on one area. I posted my answer about 3 days before Hootsuite upgraded and allow FB, Twitter and multiple Ping Accounts.
It's all down to the multiple Facebook pages problem?? I am using Ping to push stuff out (I like the GoogleGadet for Ping which means I don't even visit the Ping page anymore)
However to me the value in Hootsuite is that tracking and responding to client/customer mentions and messages. Therefore I did chicken out and have kept with the idea of 1 Hootsuite account for each FB Page.
The frustration continues. -
ncompa, how do you set up the second Ping.fm account? I went into HootSuite and did not see where I could add the second API key. Maybe I missed it and currently I can't seem to log in to HootSuite. -
Inappropriate?uncollecting, I also have many Facebook Pages which I have to mange and I switched to using the Selective Twitter Status application on Facebook to get them connected to their individual Twitter accounts. So, once I update the Twitter account, Selective Twitter Status will pull the update to the right page.
Like many Facebook apps that do things like this, it's challenging to get the permissions right to make it work but once you do, it seems to work. Still, I wish Ping.fm and/or HootSuite could get this resolved as I would rather use them than yet another app.
-
Inappropriate?Go to Settings and hit the Social Networks tab... just add Social Network and you're good to go!
-
Inappropriate?Doh! I see now. I was trying to edit my existing Ping.fm information not add another one. Makes perfect sense now.
BTW, is anybody else having trouble logging in to HootSuite? In Safari, which is my default browser, HootSuite just keeps bouncing me back to the login page. I had to launch Firefox instead.
