If you were using the bot before, just re-add it to your list and it should work. If you are using the web based gtalk client, you have to "invite to chat" first.

Re-requesting authorization (in pidgin) fixed the issue. Thanks for your work! -
For anyone interested. To do this using the 'PSI client:
Right click on the ping.fm user to bring up the context menu
Then: Authorization-->re-request authorization from -
