Must there be PingSpam?

I love your service, but why the spam? I got 4 messages posted on my twitter account from you guys in the span of 2 days. I like to get your updates, which is why I subscribed to your feed. But must you force it on everyone else?

That's a real easy way to kill what could be one heck of a viral program...
